I am sooooo tired of the hate our 2.0 NA Engines get. Thread after thread, day after day... Even fellow 2.0'ers dogging the engine.

This 2.0 "dead" engine is capable of a lot, so much untapped potential and saying it doesn't react well to mods is something I've never heard of with this platform.

We all know when Aya just had the spectrum, pulley, CAI w/ powertech I was able to beat my buddies bone-stock 1.4t w/ manual. That is until he added his DRP pipes and CAI, then my doors were gettin blown off again. (As seen on another thread)

With Aya's addition of the copper plugs, velocity-stack filter (on the end of my CAI) and aux transmission cooler, yesterday marked the day I finally beat him from a dig (stoplight)... Twice.

Back to back stop lights, off the line to the next light got him by half a nose. Needless to say, words out of his mouth was "wow and nice." He's currently going to be getting the ultimate tune from @roadrace , because the deal always is when Aya beats his 1.4t he must mod it to make it faster... A nice little game of cat and mouse :)

So moral of the story is, the 2.0 is capable of many things, and full of untapped potential. With or without it being turbo'd.

ADDENDUM: No PA laws were broken, straight line acceleration from one stop light to the other, with Aya in the right lane and my buddy in the left. No, public was put in danger, as no one was around us at the time of this straight line acceleration.

EDIT: Before you think we're two stupid punk kids... I'm 31, married with 3 kids and my buddy is 39, married with 1 child.

EDIT x2: sorry, no videos as Santa Claus still has a few more days to bring me the go pro I have wished for under the Christmas tree.

I agree on the hate.. Its really childish. I have the 2.0 in my car and its bone stock except for the stock airbox mod I did and it sounds great, and can pull very well as long as you know what rpm you're at.

No hate here, I spent lots of road time with the 2.0 in my Dad's SXT, loved it plenty. The only reason I got a different engine was because I wanted the extra MPG's the 1.4t had to offer on paper.

honestly if it weren't for the drastically different trannies (DDCT vs conventional auto), I'm not sure most real people would be able to tell the difference when driving them. (yes many will argue this , it's just my opinion)

Long Live real car colors too, screw these fifty shades of grey...

2.0 gets my nice car from point A (Home) to point B (work) 5 days a week. could it use a little more zip, yes but i like it. honestly what does .4 really get?

opinions are like assholes everyone got them and they all stink. Its just that some like minded people enjoy the same smell.

Do i wish i would get up to speed faster when i pressed the gas? sure. Do i like passing on the highway? meh sometimes. Its alot more accomplishing to take something and make it go faster then to buy something already fast. I bet if you go look at say...mustang forums, they have fast engines but they are all complaining its slow. so they mod. part hobby part just in your blood.

As far as i know the highest speed limit in the US is 75 or 80 (excluding BFE regions of noplaceville). I know my 2.0 will get to that speed, keep speed and not guzzle gas.

Now back to cars:
Did you empty your catch can yet or check it? I got a deal on a Billet Technology one for 80 bucks shipped and it arrives saturday.

It's funny you say that about gas mileage, I still get 34+ MPGs consistently in Aya. Your Dad is the one with the Winter Chill right? That is an awesome color, I am lucky to see one ever so often in our development... :)

I never drove any DDCT or CVT transmission, and Aya is really my first automatic in 15+ years, so I really don't know the different "feel" of the autos.

Yes!!! Long live real car colors, my wife an I always point out how boring colors are anymore, I don't know why Dodge went grey shades of everything on the latest Darts. Needs more color!!!

the 2.4 gets .4 more litres and MULTI-Air, which we are still trying to unlock. 2.0 is solid, proven engine that is easy as hell to mod and understand.

Word. Funny you talk about the Mustang forums, I have been doing a lot of research on the new 2.3T EcoBoost and the 5.0 Coyote... maybe one day I'll get another project, plus I've never owned a Ford and might as well start off with a 'Stang. I know I am in the miniority when I say this, but I like the new '15 Mustangs over the last generation. But that's just me, I've never been one to fit in a crowd, or go with the flow.

Nope, haven't checked yet... my oil change isn't due until next month sometime in December. So I shall check (freeze my ass off) and see what I come up with when the time comes in December.

I love my 2.0 too, just need more power at lower rpms, all i need, other than that 2.0 is a great engine!!

but baby it's cold outside...

PA weather is officially bitter cold...

22*F when I parked Aya this morning after the morning commute this morning... 99*F read the transmission temp gauge. I'd say the transmission cooler is working just fine. No, ill effects of the transmission, normal driving, just normal driving with less wear and tear on the powertech. :)

the only thing that did suck this morning was the dedicated phone running torque off the OBD2 port ran out of battery half way up on the commute, so I didn't get a full commute of logs like I normally like... oh well, more trips and more logging are sure to come soon enough.

@Bullfrog , sure did, works like a charm. I just haven't had the time to compile data as much as I would like to. Much and many thanks for that file.

toruqe data-spreadsheets :) :) :)

MAJOR HUGE ASSIST TO MY FRIEND @Bullfrog ... without his help and guidance, this young jedi was able to supply some data to y'all with the torque app... without further ado, here we go...

Morning of 11-03-2014

Evening of 11-03-2014

I have about 10 days worth of data from November to compile for you all, and I know my graphs are a lot more stretched out but my commute is also about 20-30 minutes longer than @Bullfrog 's... but anyway, I hope this can help someone out there. I wanted to try and get as much data to you all before I go on the family vacation tomorrow. I'll be on my phone, but it will be nice to not have to work and just relax for 9 straight days, especially after not taking a PTO day in the past 193 days, work starts to take a toll on ya.

I will try and throw up the additional days of my commute as I can today, as well as the transmission temp logs today as well...

Congrads! looks good. 2 helpful hints, the fourm software shrinks the graphs down so you can make them longer in excel. becase you have so many data points its hard to get granular. but looks good.

Things i noticed:
Im curious how your car calculates ambient temperature. intake temperature should be above the ambient temperature of the outside! curious looking at it. or maybe its where your ambient temperature gauge is located. i still see the peak and valley corolation to when the cooling fan is on so its reading the right values. I mean i *KNOW* you have a cold air intake but damn, are you air conditioning the thing at start ? lol.

11-4 morning around 6:34 time and 11-3 morning around 6:27

your rpm's drop to idle but your speed goes up? playing with neutral or hyper mile there?

im going to have to do a cold weather day or two to see the coloration of the intake verse ambient now in the winter but i still think while the lines are behaving like they should something is off. unless you done something to your Injen intake?

Thanks for walking me through most of it, I finally got it down to a point where it is just copy and past from the .csv files. Much obliged, this is will be a helluva a lot easier now.

As far as the CAI, I am beginning to wonder if it is all because I swapped out the "stock" Injen filter and went with a larger filter as seen here:

The Velocity Stack set up is the following:
HPR9606W 6" Cone Filter, 5.7" Tall-White
Velocity Stack 3.5" Filter Adapter 9603
Spectre 9761 4" X 3" Coupler Black

Purpose of a Velocity stack, can explain in full detail of the physics behind why it works better than a traditional air filter. To me, personally, I could feel a difference from the stack and the stock injen. I can hear the CAI again over the exhaust and the pick up from the added air could be felt. This might be the reasoning why it seems like I have an air conditioning unit in my CAI. The filter was so big that I couldn't fit it through the engine bay, that I had to take off my passenger tire and go through the wheel well when I was re-installing it on her. This was back in September 26th...

11-4 morning around 6:34 time and 11-3 morning around 6:27

Yup, there is a huge hill that I can throw her into neutral and just coast down quite aways if I am lucky and traffic permits, it does wonders for the MPG's :)

All of the data is there for you to compare to, as I said the only thing I have changed with my injen is the Velocity Stack filter back in September, no other changes.

Thus concludes the Aya lesson of today...

Thus concludes the Aya lesson of today...

For those that are hardcore and dedicated to this thread, god bless ya, because today has been full of math and charts and data. Speaking of more data, here is the final transmission temps for the month of November since I will not be driving Aya until December when we get back from our family vacation. We're taking the T&C down the FLA, not Aya... so here is the temp spreadsheet for November, enjoy.

As the weather is getting colder, the transmission temps are of course dropping as well, but this is even more than I thought which is a bonus:

11/18 & 11/19 are two prime examples of the cold spell we ran into this week in south central PA and the morning trans temps didn't even reach the triple digits. 99 & 96 degrees F respectively, no issues with drive-ability at all and the transmission was running as smooth as butter.

Also, it should be noted that with the temp changes, the average temps have dropped 7 degrees and the average change dropped my 12 degrees as well from Post-Cooler installation in October. If we look back to the full pre-cooler install averages, 37 average temps degree change and 40 average change temps. But that is not a good judge of how well it is working since it was warmer months then as opposed to winter settling in.

Again if you have any other questions, please feel free to message me or reach out to me in my various ways... again, I will have my phone on me on vacation, just not in front of a computer... :)

Stay tuned.

If it were summer, I'd be jealous as hell over your car being able to keep the IATs BELOW ambiet during most of your commute, damn!

Do you use cruise control, or have a lot hills? I ask because your throttle position is all over the place. If you can clean that up and smooth it out, your MPGs will shoot up. ;)
