I know where not to use them. Anywhere ahead of the notch right behind the front tire is a no go. Use the notch. Owners manual has pictures also.

But where would you place jack stands if you wanted to work under the car?
On my other cars I'd place stands under axles, or lower a-arms, usually under lower strut bolts, or shock bolts.

 

I feel your pain on these jack stands! I had my car on jack stands for a week with no problems. Under the car there's the pinch weld, you can use that spot but its not my favorite spot for jack stands.

If you look around the pinch weld area there's a flat square spot on the frame. It is not painted with the underbody spray. This is where the car sat on the rack when it was being built. Using those 4 locations on the car, 1 on each of the wheel made my car hold up fine.

So did you jack up the car one corner at a time or did you find a center location to lift the whole front and rear?

 

I'm very interested in this as I want to jack up the whole car to take off all 4 wheels at once. (plastidip!)

 

I lift up 1 side at a time, front first since its the heaviest then the rear. Its probably dangerous to do so but I'm using a floor jack not the stocker. I'd recommend that rather than front then rear so when you're taking the wheels off, the trans axle in the front (when in gear) will prevent unwanted spinning. The e-brake will hold the rears no problem.

 

When I painted my calipers. I jacked up each side then stuck my jackstands in the appropriate place. I had all four wheels off at once. Was just fine.

All joking aside, I typically only use jack stands while working on or under my "hobby cars" ... my Alfa sat on jacks for several years (while I worked on other projects) without issue:

For oil changes on my daily drivers, I drive onto a pair of homemade ramps at the bottom of my driveway ... the incline of my driveway is perfect for oil changes ... all the oil drains out of the engine ... and runs right into the gutter and into a storm drain (that flows to the bay) ... just kidding, I of course drain my used oil into a California-EPA approved Hazardous Waste portable container (so it can be recycled).

For tire rotation on my daily drivers, I just go to my local AMERICA'S TIRE store (called "DISCOUNT TIRE" in other parts of the country) ... they know me there and will rotate my tires for free (even on my Dart which still has the factory tires/wheels).

That's the spot I used. I actually just left it on the jack because I didn't want to put pressure anywhere when I wasn't sure. I jacked it up, drained the oil, lowered it so it was level and the rest of the oil would come out, jacked it back up, put the plug in, lowered it, and filled it. lol

 

Oh wow, I definitely put mine on the wrong spot, LOL, oh well it worked fine. I thought we are supposed to use the pinch weld?

 

You can use the pinch weld, just make sure its the part that comes up and not the longer piece.

Pinch weld is more for lifts, scissor jack. The spots I posted is for like a rack. Like the ones used to hold the car when it was being built

Also if you wish to use the pinch welds instead you could always modify the hockey pucks like this...

 

I can't thank you enough for those pictures. Coupled with my $10.00Black Friday floor jack from Pep Boys I rotated the tires without thinking about going through the floor. had a flashback of my '69 Dart Swinger going into a pothole and ripping the torsion bar (remember torsion bars?) clear through the frame. Simply brilliant catch about the undercoating not being on those spots. Won't find that in a Mopar manual.

I jacked mine up and lowered it down onto railroad ties, 4 separate pieces of them when I did my calipers. In some nice solid spots lol

 

Not gonna lie, I just put jackstands on the jack points. My car was only on them over night, but it was fine for that amount of time.

So just like the posting says, bew cars dont have a cast-iron frame like the other older cars I used to have. So my question is, where should I jack up with a jackstand??? I notice a lot of metal in the front center of the car Directly under the engine area, however it doesn't appear to me as...
