So did some looking around on here and came across a couple of options for replacing my factory gear oil and was just wondering what people are using these days. The post's I saw were from 2015.
Leaning towards the Redline brand because that's what the DSM crowd swore by. Anybody having good or bad luck with it? Thanks.

I went ahead and changed my transmission fluid this weekend with the Royal Purple GEAR-MAX 01300... And boy o boy, what a difference! The feeling in the shifts are much smoother, it feels like the transmission glides into gear much better and i dont have as much jumpiness in the transitions from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd... I think this fluid is going to be great and last a long time! It also kinda feels like the pull on acceleration is much smoother as well! I would recommend this fluid to anyone with the manual transmission looking for a great replacement!

That being said, It was kind of a PITA to change the fluid. Of course Dodge HAD to use another awkward tool for the drain plug and the damn FSM doesnt tell you what size allen wrench you need. Idk if its the same for all manual transmissions but mine had a 12MM allen wrench plug, which you had to use a SHORTY or else you wont get a socket wrench in there!

then once the fluid was completely drained, I had to use the clear rubber hose that deyeme gave with the CDV delete kit in order to fill the transmission back up because there is NO way to get a bottle down in there to fill it. I did clean the hose out with brakekleen then washed it real good with water and blew it out with a compressor to make sure there was no brake fluid or brakekleen left in it... The only thing that is kind of difficult is making sure the hose stays in the filler hole while youre filling it up! I would recommend a partner or maybe a piece of tape to hold the hose somewhere so that it doesnt jump out. The 1.4T uses about 1.8QT. in the transmission and I think that is the same for the 2.0 & 2.4...

I think the part that was the most troublesome was following the FSM when it came to the way they describe the make-shift dipstick you have to create. Here's how you do it!

1. Measure 15mm on a business card

2. Cut the strip out length wise

3. Measure 30mm from one side of the strip
Image

4. Bend the strip at a right (90 degree) angle on that line
Image

5. Measure from the 30mm side back 15mm (that will be you fluid line)
Image

Then you hold the long side and put the short side with the fill line on it into the fill hole of the transmission and hold it flush to the bottom of the fill hole and push down so the short side (with the fill line) dips down and in an little into the transmission case.

If the fluid meets that line you are perfect!

Do you happen to have the site, or email that states that this is Warranty compliant with FCA? My friend emailed RP about their transmission gear oil, and they said that they recommend the Synchromax for our car, but as you said was not compliant possibly. They said if warranty was an issue, to stick with Chrysler fluids. They did not mention the Gear Max, and this was back in April. I have heard a lot of great things about RP trans fluids from those who changed them, but I still have 40k on my Powertrain warranty, so I don't want to screw that up at all because I wanted to save a few bucks, and for the slightly better performance.

Almost 6 months after, does anybody have any new updates on your trannies with any of the aftermarkets oils? I'm at 48k and want to replace my fluid as I'm nearing the 50k, also ever since I got the car, there's been an oil stain at the engine/tranny marriage site and shifting is not as it was on day 1 and as usual, the dealer says its normal >:/ anywho I've been reading here and there, and the RP synchromax seems like the winner. I also emailed RP and asked what they meant by the synchromax being recommended for manual trannies that require ATF, any insight on that?

Well I have been running the gear Max for this long and have had zero issues. Royal purple was also nice enough to send me 2 qts. Of the synchromax since the gear Max techinally isn't the "warranty replacement" for the darts manual transmission. I would have to say that either or fluid from royal purple will be fine for your dart. The gear Max would be better for the people who live in colder climates so the fluid doesnt turn too thick in the winter and the synchromax for those who live in warmer climates so the fluid doesn't get too thin during the summer.

Sent using a rotary phone

Not that I know of... Plus i think the DDCT is required to be done by the dealer due to need of special tools.

You'll need alfaOBD on an android device with the OBDLinkMX+. Disconnect a pipe and run the pump motor with the app. Flush it all out and replace with the correct fluid.

Found it on mopar giants website. ill be parking my car till i can get the fluid flushed out. I need to buy one of those obdlinkmx+ devices also.
