Hello all. I’m new to this forum. I am looking for some knowledge on a 2013 (I think) dart that I was looking to buy for my daughter as her first vehicle but it doesn’t currently start. The outside is immaculate, inside looks pristine, the engine looks very clean, and the thing cranks over with plenty of power but won’t fire. I was told that the person who’s selling bought it to help a girl out with money knowing it had an issue. Supposedly it ran but ran rough and then they replaced the computer supposedly. It is a 1-4turbo. I was wondering if the computer might need programming after installation if they haven’t done that or if anyone has had any similar issues. I can get more info as soon as I talk to them again. Please help. Any info that might help would be much appreciated.

Did they include the original computer? It's almost never the computer but seems like it's the first thing people want to replace. If it's been sitting a long time, the oil may have drained from the MultiAir. Get it scanned and post the code numbers. Hope this Dart doesn't have the DDCT automatic, those can be complicated and very expensive to repair.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’ll see what I can find out. It’s sitting at the guys house so it might be a bit till I can get it. I just thought that the thing looks so good in and out that for $1500 I would hate to pass it up but don’t want a car I can’t do anything with.

The DDCT is a red flag in my opinion. It's what gives Darts such a bad rep. Good that you asked here before buying. Unless you are an expert mechanic and understand how complicated modern vehicle electronics can be, think twice.
The other Dart powertrains are much more reliable.
