how did you know it was the battery? was the battery tested in some way, and if yes, what were the test results? also who did the testing? a dealer?
well my gauges flickered on start up, my brighttails interior map LEDs kept flickering (thought they were going bad at first), my key fob stopped working from far away (had to stand next to it sometimes to get it to unlock), my touch screen would flash and go black for a few seconds then turn on normally on start up, my starts started getting weaker and weaker, then finally my car wouldnt turn over anymore. all quirks caused by the fact that the battery didnt have enough power to run everything effectively.

got it tested at an AutoZone and it was beyond toast, wouldnt even hold the test charge for more than 10 seconds with the car off. replaced with a Duralast Gold battery from there and all those little quirks went away and shes been "golden" (see what i did there) ever since.

thanks! glad it all worked out for you. To Autozone i go!!!!

i am currently having this issue and my 2013 dart with 42000 miles wouldnt start last evening. i put a charger to it and charger said it charged fully in about 20 mins. it also started up. this mornig it is dead again. what did you find out?

Not related to the flickering gauges but while they had the car I asked them if they could straighten the black rubber surround on the third brake light. When I picked up the car the service advisor walked me into the showroom and to the back of a Dart on the floor. He said "Does that look like yours?" (pointing to the third brake light). I said, "Sure does". He said it can't be fixed since it's soft rubber. We both agreed it is a major design flaw.

This just happened to my car today, went to the dealership w/o my car & was asked "did I check my oil?" This place just did an oil change on my car a week ago, they didn't seem to care & pushed me off to the wayside, I called Dodge Customer service, got a case number, my car got towed, unfortunately to that dealership & now they say I don't have an appointment, could take 4 business days for an open window. I'll update the outcome.

its the battery for sure its common on these cars. Mine did it just before my battery pooped out

2013 dodge dart limited 1.4l with either bad battery or bad alternator. Did an oil change. Started my car to pull in garage. Started it to run for 30 seconds to shut off and top off oil. Tried to start it again, it clicks and screen blinks. I put my battery charger on it and it says the battery is 45 full and 11.9V. I'm leaning towards faulty battery since I just fully charged it last Sunday for what I thought was a bad ground problem. (Got dtc last week about the TCM.) I cleaned the grounds and charged the battery. It was low, then. These batteries are crap.

my wife's dart started doing this a few days ago. at first, car would start after the clicking gauge needles. yesterday, she went to start it and nothing. i jumped the battery when i got home. it started normally. shut it downfor a few seconds, then nothing. taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
I have a leased 2014 Dart for my daughter. It recently was at the dealer for 5 WEEKS with transmission issues. The end result was to replace the transmission. About a week after we got it back, it started stalling but would eventually start. My daughter also said noted the jittery RPM needle when starting. LAst night she went to the bank and it wouldnt start when she got back in the car. I looked at this forum which told about the problem mot likely being the battery. I jumped the battery and it started. I called the manager of the dealer and am awaiting a call back. The car is dead this morning. Ill update once I get word from the dealer. Im glad I didnt buy this car. Who knows what the next issue will be. Oh, this car also had warped rotors which I had to pay for.

I read this thread today cause I am experiencing the same issue and took it to the dealer and they wanted to set up an appointment to replace my cluster. Still under warranty so I thought why not and made the apt. But I wanted to try the other key fob anywyas and so far I don't have issues! I just don't get how it couldve been the key fob. Battery tested good too.

how in the world would YOU have to pay for warped rotors on a leased vehicle?

also, glad someone bumped this thread. winter is in full swing now in Colorado. crazy dancing gauges on cold mornings. car starts just fine though.
I guess rotors are not covered because a bad driver can cause them to wear prematurely. Brake pads are not covered.

Anyway, the battery was also bad in this Dart. Its 5 months short of 2 years. They also did a battery drain test and updated firmware. The battery was covered.

I thought about maybe keeping this car after the lease ended but these problems have changed my mind.

I am going through a similar issue but in my case the gauges and needles click and flickeronly when I wake the cluster panel. So when I unlock the car with the keyfob, or sometimes when I open the door, or sometimes when I just put the key in (just putting it in, not turning it). Dealer wants to replace the cluster panel and it's still under warranty. Just curious if anyone knows if this is somehow damaging my dart's electrical system :-(

Gauges Flutter/Flicker/Click

Hey all. There's been lots of threads about this on this site and others but I haven't seen a definite solution from anyone except for a "low battery".

My situation is that recently my dart's gauges have been clicking/fluttering only when i either open the door, press unlock with the key fob, or insert the key. It starts fine and the gauges don't do this when i start it. They only do it in those 3 scenarios. I tested my battery and the charger always says "Full Charge" so I don't think it's the battery that is low. Has anyone had this kind of scenario happen and had a solution other than battery? My dealer wants to replace the instrument cluster and in a week or so and hopefully that helps. Still under warranty thankfully!

Anyways just wondering if anyone has any solutions other than battery?

Nova69 had posted a video on his thread showing exactly what I have had:
