The flash itself will have a part number but you will need to have a scanner to see that, as for being wary of updates, they update them because of flaws in the programing, no different then updating your home computer, usually they are for driveability problems or maybe even for radio issues, on a whole any time there is an update it is a good thing to have them done. As for info on the update your dealer should give you that info if you ask for it, on the invoice it should have a recall number or rapid response number that called for the flash and then you can get the info based on that number

If you go to the Dodge owners website they list the recalls but I don't know about getting the tsb listings, what did they say they did

If there was a specific problem listed there may have just been an update for that concern and in that case you would need a scanner to see the program but even then if you didn't know what the version was before then there would be no way really to tell what it was before, if it was that there just happened to be an update for your car that needs to be done then it would be listed on the invoice so that they can bill accordingly to chrysler, either way they should tell you if you inquire what they actually updated and the problems it is supposed to fix, some techs are lazy and if there is an issue will just flash with the newest software available for the specific component that is giving you issues whether or not it is supposed to fix that issue, i would talk to the service department and get more info if you have concerns, a good service adviser will tell you without any hassle
