parking brake equalizer

So I recently had to swap out my calipers because my right rear ebrake was not disengaging. When I opened up the center console I see that the equalizer is not equal, it bends down to one side and the nut is WAY far into the threads, even too deep for a deep socket. I tightened the equalizer so that the ebrake would engage but it is not a firm feel in the ebrake lever. Do they have to be equal, does this mean I have a stretched cable? I was thinking about putting a bunch of washers before the tightening nut to bring it out more so its easier to adjust with a ratchet.

i would say that you stretched your cable. there should not be that big of a difference on the equalizer. Did you tighten the nut or did you find it that way?

found it that way, i loosened it when i replaced the calipers and then tightened it again, it seems to hold the car, although not as hardcore as before, it slides a little then holds it.
When i painted my calipers i didn't have to adjust that nut to take them off and put them back on. after you changed your calipers and you pull the parking brake is the equalizer still very crooked? The parking brake on the caliper doesn't really move a lot to engage so if your really pulling up on the the handle it could definitely be stretched.
