Seems like the time may be right to say goodbye to the Dart Forum. The level of "fun & games" that used to be all too present "back in the day" seems to have run it's course. Maybe because the Dart is no longer the new and exciting adventure that it was at launch back in 2012 or maybe because it's run is coming to an end. Even the people who mod their cars seem to have everything tied up in no-nonsense fact packages (for good or bad) and the fun poking with a dash of sarcasm has slowly simmered away and the pot seems empty now.
There was a "Golden Age", I feel, when some of our more edgy members were able (and allowed) to get a pretty good fun fest going on certain threads (not just in off topic). But those have been banned by now - for the most part. So now, it feels like so many other car forums where the dry information is all there, but, it's alot more akin to watching a Baseball game live at the stadium on a hot day with every inning being pretty uneventful. Check those stats on the score board! Wow! 0 for 2, huh? Yeah man..... great game. :serious:

My final 2 cents worth about modern day cars , from what I learned here as well as other places, is that the new stuff coming out is truly not meant to be modded. It's a money pit that becomes a hobby hardly worth the cost of materials - let alone the time spent doing the work.
I wish everyone I came to know Good Luck with their motoring adventures. Have fun and be safe !
Regards,
Dad's Dart

Cars are disposable now and seem to have been for a while. Heck, even with my 3rd world nation roads here in Michigan I am lucky to have the stock suspension last more than 3 years.

I'll stick around here until I get banned for something offensive.

Disposable from the standpoint like appliances. Parts aren't heavy duty. They fail early. But it's the high cost of certain parts and the outrageous labor costs that prevent the continued repair of older vehicles.
The most ridiculous aspect of high cost repairs is the fact that little independent shops want to make a "quick buck" as much or worse than a dealership. It's the American way. You can get better deals on medical care than you can for automotive care. But so far - my dealer excluded. It will stay that way until they try to "pull a fast one". And then, the unfortunate times will ensue.........
The parts they use nowadays are the equivalent of buying something from Harbor Freight lol. My wheel bearings going out at 28k miles on the Dart, that's unacceptable. Heck, I did not even drive it through flooded roads.

@dads dart, I hear your angst and am not far behind you. in the immortal words of B.B. King "the thrill is gone" from the forum. it used to be that a new guy would post and get a bunch of welcomes, now, they go days without a welcome post. I only come on on occasion and breeze through the active posts, don't stay long anymore. Maybe it's me, maybe the feel is different, I don't know. I'm just not as eager to be here as a I used to be. I used the 4 letter "H" word once and got the crap slapped out of me cause I bad mouthed german cars.....yeah, the thrill is gone for sure. Political correctness is bullsh*t. watch, I'll get slapped for that too.....

Agreed. I'm sick of the political correctness of not being allowed to hate anything. That I am supposed to accept everything in this world as good. There is a reason the zebra hate the crocodiles at the watering hole.

Me? Cuzz of the Farewell Tour theme? Ahh, shucks, .... thanks, but no. :music:

...the beat still goes on.

As for my "farewell tour" here on the Forum, well, ...... anybody who has known me on here since 2012 also knows that I am a master of BS. I'll do pert near anything for a new thread to get attention !!!!!

So, there you have it. A phony farewell tour from a well practiced confidence man. But that's just me.
You crafty musicians. Y'all all do them phony farewells.
