I purchased these mirrors a couple months ago and I finally found time to install them. I picked them up for the turn signal lights and entry LED lights. Also I wanted gloss black mirrors to go with the gloss black front bumper I recently installed. I was very fortunate that I didn’t have to install the wiring harness that came with the mirrors, my car was already wired. It saved a ton of time. All I had to do was take the door panels off and replace the mirrors. After inspecting the mirrors I noticed there was a defrost symbol on the mirror glass. The description did not mention defrost. I’ll come back to this later.

The instruction said you have to perform a Proxi Configuration Alignment (PCA) to activate the mirrors. This is standard procedure for upgrading anything electrical on the Dart. No big deal. After the install I decided to see what would work without the PCA. The entry LED lights worked but the turn signal light didn’t work. The PCA will fix that.

At this point I decided to see if the defrost worked. To me this was a huge deal. I didn’t think Dart’s had this option. I live in the mid-west and this is an option I will use 6 months out of the year. Defiantly a safety concern with the ice and snow we have. I hooked up a multi meter with a temp probe to the mirror. To my surprise the temp of the mirror went up to 112 degrees over 20 minutes. The ambient temp was 72 degrees. To activate, just push the rear defrost button.

Thing you need to know:
My original mirrors had a 3 wire connection (out of the mirrors) going into a 9 wire connection (door wiring harness). The new mirrors had a 9 wires connection. From what I can tell: 3 wires are for mirror adjustment, 4 wires for turn signal lights and entry LED lights and 2 wires for defrost (equals 9).

Edited 17 May 2014: Some of the statements above are incorrect. Please read the entire thread or go to page 4 for the correct install.

Great info! At least now I know what to look for to know if I'm able to do the "upgrade".

Do dealerships usually charge for PCA's?

I hate to rain on your parade but, the PCA will NOT make your turn signals work!

I added the mirrors a few months back, did the flash, and my signals still do not work.

I was told there is a missing wire and something to do with the BCM.

My dealer told me they would not even attempt to make them work. I have been into a few different dealers around and asked, but never heard anything back from any of them...

Do a search for "adding heated mirrors" there is a lot of info in that thread but still no answer to get the blinkers to work.

If you find the answer to what is needed to make them work, PLEASE post in either this thread, the "heated mirrors" one, or PM me personally. I really want my blinkers to work!

Thats good to know. Thanks.

My mirrors came with a wrring harness and instructions to install the harness.. I did not install the wires because I thought they were already there. I will take a look at the instructions this week. Maybe I can figure something out.

Why would mopar sell upgraded turn single mirrors and they dont work. The limited and gt came with them so you dont need the so these would only interest se, sxt, rallye, aero owners. Their has to be a way to get them to work

Anyway you could send me a copy of those instructions??? Also, does the harness have a part number on it?

(I got my mirrors off of a wrecked limited Dart, so I didn't get either of those...)

I will scan the instruction and see if i can post them here. It came with 3 wiring harnesses. 1 for each door (2 total)(Part# 68185371) and 1 for the BCM (Part # 68185377AA). After looking at the instructions, it looks simple. This weekend i will check continuity between connecters to see that wires I need to add.

Im interested in this also. I clipped a mirror backing into my garage, so it has to be replaced. Might as well go up if I can but with no resolution to the signals not working I've been holding off. Thanks for the work and information on this guys.

The mirror adjustment, heat, and puddle lamps are all plug and play. You may as well do the upgrade now and have a functioning mirror again. I wouldn't let the fact that a cosmetic part of it didn't work stop me from having a non-broken mirror. Then once we find a way for the signals to work, you'll have that much less to do...

That's true. Didn't think about it that way. My mirror still functions though. Cosmetic damage and of course you have to buy the whole assy.

theses are the wires I have been telling everyone on the adding heated mirror thread I have been looking at the wiring diagram and noticed that the wire from the bcm to the mirror was missing and no one believed me now this is proves I was right. Thank you.

Here are the wiring diagrams for the driver and passenger side and I have hi lighted the wires and if you notice the wire missing in between is the wire that gets provided with the new mirror kit

The instructions are 16 pages long, way to big to post all together. I will have to rescan them 1 page at a time and post them. The bad news is you need all 3 harnesses. The entry lights working is a fluke. I will post a complete explanation after i finish the install. It will be this weekend sometime. This install is not for a beginner.

I'm not a beginner. I can twist wires together and cover them in black electrical tape and everything. But seriously, I can. I'm very interested in your results. Looking forward to the fruits of your labor.
