I purchased these mirrors a couple months ago and I finally found time to install them. I picked them up for the turn signal lights and entry LED lights. Also I wanted gloss black mirrors to go with the gloss black front bumper I recently installed. I was very fortunate that I didn’t have to install the wiring harness that came with the mirrors, my car was already wired. It saved a ton of time. All I had to do was take the door panels off and replace the mirrors. After inspecting the mirrors I noticed there was a defrost symbol on the mirror glass. The description did not mention defrost. I’ll come back to this later.
The instruction said you have to perform a Proxi Configuration Alignment (PCA) to activate the mirrors. This is standard procedure for upgrading anything electrical on the Dart. No big deal. After the install I decided to see what would work without the PCA. The entry LED lights worked but the turn signal light didn’t work. The PCA will fix that.
At this point I decided to see if the defrost worked. To me this was a huge deal. I didn’t think Dart’s had this option. I live in the mid-west and this is an option I will use 6 months out of the year. Defiantly a safety concern with the ice and snow we have. I hooked up a multi meter with a temp probe to the mirror. To my surprise the temp of the mirror went up to 112 degrees over 20 minutes. The ambient temp was 72 degrees. To activate, just push the rear defrost button.
Thing you need to know:
My original mirrors had a 3 wire connection (out of the mirrors) going into a 9 wire connection (door wiring harness). The new mirrors had a 9 wires connection. From what I can tell: 3 wires are for mirror adjustment, 4 wires for turn signal lights and entry LED lights and 2 wires for defrost (equals 9).
