I'm just looking for the life that people have gotten out of the OEM TPMS sensor.

I'm sure people here have just changed the tires and not touched the sensor itself. When you changed tires, I know you're supposed to change the valve stem assembly with each tire change?

Does the sensor have to be remove to do so? If so, do I need a special tool to do this job?
This link mentions a tool, but doesn't mention what it is:

How long has everyone gotten out of the sensor that came with their car (years and mileage) before it started giving them issues?

Thank you!
