What is the range of the multi air actuators?


We have tunes coming soon as I see it so getting a real stick in these will be big. Going on the large side and let the actuators run on the low side for drivability

Why are the 2.4's going to be a nightmare?? Cams are cams, I'm sure there is gonna be fun getting around the actuators but that's it

Because it has one cam on the exhaust that physically interacts with the MultiAir system that replaces an intake cam? That's not to say that it's impossible, but it's probably more challenging and it would likely have to be designed in conjunction with a custom tune.

We are looking at this. We are looking at stuff in the 35/75-75/35 range for a daily driver and 40/80-80/40 for a hot street/track setup. It's a ways off though.

Your talking 3/4 race terms? Do we know the stock exhaust can specs and what the variance the intake adjusters allow??

I know you are fellow old timer based on that term. The specs I posted are references to valve opening and closing, the first set of numbers is for intake valves opening BTDC, and closing ABDC. The second set if for the exhaust valves opening BBDC and closing ATDC. These are not hard specs, I am just giving you an idea of what I am looking at if we decide to go this direction.

All sounds like a lot of time and money to be spent on a mission that is bound to end badly. In the end, even if the modifications net a quicker 1/4 mile or whatever, you do realize everything will begin falling apart and that none of the Darts were designed to be truly .... Truly... modified?

Are you kidding? People have been putting hot cams in cars since the beginning of automotive time. I think there were hot cams for Model A Fords.

Considering it's price range, the Dart's mechanicals are pretty high quality. The car is on an Alfa Romeo Chassis which is an Audi competitor in Europe. Dodge has always built strong engines with a lot of performance potential, and the same is true of Fiat and Alfa Romeo. These engines are certainly not going to fall apart with conventional mods like cams, exhaust, intakes etc. I am so confident in the 2.4 that I would be comfortable supercharging it with 15 pounds of boost with no internal changes.

Camming a MutliAir engine

Me and my buddy were having a conversation about cams today and got on the topic of putting an aftermarket camshaft in a MultiAir engine. I was reading thru old threads and saw that some think it isn't possible, or would be really hard to do. Does anyone have any insight on this? Is there really any reason you couldn't cam a MultiAir car (assuming you have the tuning to make the MultiAir work in conjunction with the new cam)?

Lol I didn't even put together those were valve events ? I must be getting old, just had my 25th! Do you have some @ .050 specs and love lift??
