Sure I will post some tonight, late though. I think I can link some vid as well.
Cool story on the colt as when they were new I got to beat on a few and thought they wear a neat car in the time when the older muscle cars were still common and then in the 80-s some v8 cars and the GN-s were getting faster. Jump to like early 2000s and I was driving past a small car lot and on the back row with a flat tire was the traditional silver/black colt and had the big $600 on the windshield.
I flipped around and we put air in the tire and jumped it off and when we pulled out for a test spin I told the guy I just needed to do one thing, so I slid it is star mode on the trans and side stepped it to preload and let it rip and it smoked them off a bit, torgue steered a good bit through second and I said ...sold.
The great part of it was it had never been modded althought was on a warranty and paper work on the car showed it was a dealer techs car from new. Not sure how it landed on that lot. Zero rust but both front fenders had been damaged like they were kicked and I could still get oem ones from overseas on ebay and I did also put a fuel pump on it.
I did work the boost up from I think oem 5 or maybe 7 to a solid 10 because as a safety feature more then 10 psi it would kick out the fuel pump. Took it too a muffle shop and tossed out 2 100 bills and said no receipt needed for what then would of been 1/2 that and said I just want a a straight with a small glass pack all the way back. The shops were still skittish to do the converter delete and he said that but I said if he didnt the next shop would or the one after that so he did it as I wanted.
Anyway I will post on it later tonight.
Been a while since I seen a xr4ti, wasnt that the same motor/trans as a escort gt turbo or stang 4/turbo. excuse me if im wrong that was long ago. But yea mercury had some cool things going, I had there 85 capri 5.0 5 speed that stood out from the normal 5.0 cars that were super plentful, dont get me started but new with comp t/a-s, the rancho suspension kit and the ford motor sport off road exhaust and and the ford upgraded T5 we baited the new turbo porches into the twistys and could still out run them on the straights.
