Sure I will post some tonight, late though. I think I can link some vid as well.

Cool story on the colt as when they were new I got to beat on a few and thought they wear a neat car in the time when the older muscle cars were still common and then in the 80-s some v8 cars and the GN-s were getting faster. Jump to like early 2000s and I was driving past a small car lot and on the back row with a flat tire was the traditional silver/black colt and had the big $600 on the windshield.

I flipped around and we put air in the tire and jumped it off and when we pulled out for a test spin I told the guy I just needed to do one thing, so I slid it is star mode on the trans and side stepped it to preload and let it rip and it smoked them off a bit, torgue steered a good bit through second and I said ...sold.

The great part of it was it had never been modded althought was on a warranty and paper work on the car showed it was a dealer techs car from new. Not sure how it landed on that lot. Zero rust but both front fenders had been damaged like they were kicked and I could still get oem ones from overseas on ebay and I did also put a fuel pump on it.

I did work the boost up from I think oem 5 or maybe 7 to a solid 10 because as a safety feature more then 10 psi it would kick out the fuel pump. Took it too a muffle shop and tossed out 2 100 bills and said no receipt needed for what then would of been 1/2 that and said I just want a a straight with a small glass pack all the way back. The shops were still skittish to do the converter delete and he said that but I said if he didnt the next shop would or the one after that so he did it as I wanted.

Anyway I will post on it later tonight.

Been a while since I seen a xr4ti, wasnt that the same motor/trans as a escort gt turbo or stang 4/turbo. excuse me if im wrong that was long ago. But yea mercury had some cool things going, I had there 85 capri 5.0 5 speed that stood out from the normal 5.0 cars that were super plentful, dont get me started but new with comp t/a-s, the rancho suspension kit and the ford motor sport off road exhaust and and the ford upgraded T5 we baited the new turbo porches into the twistys and could still out run them on the straights.

Great story on the Colt! I would still love to own one. The XR4Ti had the same engine as the Mustang SVO (2.3T), but without the intercooler. I've had a few of them. My Dodge ownership has been limited to the Dart and a '92 Spirit R/T. I also had an '87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, but they were technically AMC at the time. I still have a GMC Typhoon, so you can tell I like anything unusual with a turbo.

GMC Typhoon, yea thats another odd duck, in our lil group in the mid 80-s we all had a GNs and a 5.0s bought off the lot and modded before the paper plates were off and the GMC-s at the 1/8 mile track were tight runners every race. Not till I swapped out the 3:08-s in the 5.0 capri to a 3:73 could I hang or beat a GN and even for both the GMC being AWD was all about the driver. None of us were really well off money wise but we busted butt for loans and car payments but it was a good mix of mid 80s stuff and the late 60-s and early 70-s that if they were not on the game they were toast. But then a street car was one you could cruise 200 miles or more on a friday night all summer long. Slow but fun.

The dam, Starion/Conquest was another odd one that could run good and even the TT hmmm dont recall the import it was but it was plain and sneaky would sneak up on a slack driver.

I recently could of bought a 85? SVO pretty cheap and it was stock, I should of. Im pretty sure it was a 85 as it had the dual exhaust on each side where I think the 84 didnt but im probably wrong, cant recall all from back then.

They really pooched it with the T bird SC, just too much car for the motor but great style and overall ok.

I will still look for my colt pics or yank the cover for pics, we got a couple 70 plus degree days coming this week.

I had to google what a twin-stick was. Very interesting, I can't imagine many people used the economy gears lol.

I'm a DSM guy myself.
-1991 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD Auto, bone stock 59k miles. Intended on taking it to the local car show this year but Covid cancelled it.
-1993 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD Manual, complete big 16g turbo build with 144k on the clock. Running about 21-23psi on 93 octane, should be about 350 crank horsepower. Engine is stock, never opened. It's amazing how much these engines can handle from the factory.

Wow, I had for got about the Talon cars, so many cool fwd/awd of the past with a following. Crazy boost numbers there.

The cool thing about the twin stick colt is you could use it as a low/high 8 speed trans and maybe all stock it might of been a bit quicker that way but its a odd play of the hand running the shifter and the hi/low side of the trans. Hard to do mods on the motor but it was the first .

This is from the web but mine is 100% the same looking, still org 13 inch wheels mine only has primed front fenders.

I will find my good pic and vid file tonight for sure.

Even though an import it was a Dodge and really the first turbo import and sorta looks like a GLH car.

Well a month has past, the real world sucks at times but I have put some miles on the Dart, about 1700 trouble free miles.

I did get all my rims, ended up buying six in total so if I scuff or break one I can scuff or break another.

Since I live so far out in the sticks, more like tumbleweed land the other am I loaded up 5 rims and tires in the trusty workhorse parts hauler neon and off I went 35 miles to the tire shop.

I usually just use a friends tire machine and old school bubble balancer but figured id have these done correctly, wow im getting old, $120 to mount and balance 5 tires on rims with my supplied new tps units and stick on rims.

For now I stuck with the new but oem size 225 40 18s even with the 8 inch rim vs the 7.5 but after I drop it an inch or so I will see what room I have for going a bit wider.

I told the tire jockey and his buds dont F--k up my nice new rims and yea that went over well but hey they didnt scuff a single one. :)

I torqued them and again at 4 miles, another 15 miles, another 25 miles and this am after 35 miles all was tight for good it seems.

Im pleased with the new rims and new tires, will be happier after I toss on the new struts and shocks next week and see if the elcheapo lowring springs were worth it or not or if not I will just buy 4 new oem springs.

So overall pretty happy with that deal.

The pics of the two corners I posted in this I had previously cautiously ran them semi hard, this am I went from cruise at 65 to 85 into the first banked corner (the opposite direction from what I posted pics of) and it drove really nice, out of that corner ahead was the flat corner to the right so I fed it a bit more and pulled that corner at 90, that one I cold feel pretty good, good enough to out do the morning coffee rush 10x. Im always a bit skittish in the hellcat because of its weight and its really meant to go straight but these dam darts have very good balance, even with cheap but new tires. And in the HC its so easy to hang the tail end out at all the wrong times.

So I am wondering what the new shocks/struts/springs will do for it, 87k on the oem front struts with one leaking bad and I think one rear shock had been replaced at some time.

I did buy a low mile 2.4 core motor, interesting tear down but should be easy to get some good pistons and some stronger lighter rods and then I will really look into spraying it or even a turbo, the more I look at the one offering it looks semi easy to fab up the turbo mount.

Almost think a 19 inch rim would look nicer then lowering but who knows.
