My 2015 Dodge Dart GT drivers side front axle was making a noise. Brought to my local Dodge dealer and they stated that the axle was damaged inside the boot covers (no visual damage to the outside) and that it needed to be replaced. My car has 50K and I drive it 100 miles a day (highway driving). This is a major component of the vehicles driving system and seems very unusual that a drive shaft would fail. If this part would have broke while driving, a serious accident would occur.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Noise does not mean failure. Replacing an axle is something that a person can do themselves. It takes a lot for an axle to come apart. When an axle does come apart, the car won't move even if the other axle is still good. Your brakes and steering would still work.
