Anybody been driving their Powertech transmission fast for a long time?

I am looking at maybe replacing my Dart DDCT with either a GT or a Patriot, both with the Powertech. The thing is, I am a recovering twenty-two year motorcycle rider who has so far gone through 30 tires on my modded MKIV VW 1.8T. That transmission has been showing a little slipping at WOT shifts for a few years now, but is still good to go. Maybe VW has spoiled me (just bought a second MKIV) and maybe other automatics (wife necessity) are not built with driving enthusiasts like me in mind? Before you ask, do you really expect me to ever change when Pretty Boy Floyd taught my Grandpa to drive...who then taught me? Plymouth's forever!

I have had the 2.4L with the powertech for over a year now, and I haven't had any issues. I drive it hard accelerating quite a lot, and except for the first couple of months, I use the autostick full time.

(Of course with the turbo project going on now, I might end up breaking it)..lol

I was really impressed with the GT auto I test drove, both using the autostick and without. But then again, I don't think twenty WOT takeoffs qualifies as an endurance test. It sounds like at a year it is probably a sure bet.

I didn't like the feel of the clutch on the manual trans GT I test drove, and I was considering the wife too. I'm really glad I went with the auto. Just as fun, and probably the smoothest shifting auto I've ever had.

I've had my '14 GT with the AutoStick since August '14 and it has taken some abuse and mishaps. Accidental shifts into reverse (quickly slapping it into Neutral when it happened) twice, hundreds of hard launches, nonstop "because race car" driving style from this 22 year old in Montana. After one update to the Powertrain and nearly 9,000 miles all my black Dart has needed was an oil change... And about 20 bottles of Washer Fluid... And one new tire from a bolt on the highway. Otherwise, great little car WELL worth the $21,944 price tag. Name: 11174770_10152871186542005_8835830827110232263_n.jpg

I have no problems with the autostick upshifting or downshifting. Actually downshifting a couple of gears is a blast....

Its still no where near as fun or as functional as a regular manual. Unless you're getting the Hellcat HP Torqueflite 8-speed automatic then there's no replacement for a manual.

I've used more than a few auto-sticks and to me its like paddle shifters...its fun for a whole 5 minutes and then its just a pain in the ass to use and the cool factor wears off very quickly.

Rowing through the gears through an on-ramp to the highway... there is something magical about that.
