One thing I'll say for GM & Mitsubishi on their 4cyls I owned: 2005 Lancer . Nothing special. Butter smooth automatic. No vibration under any circumstance . Same for a 2008 Cobalt. Base model. Surprisingly , from Chevy, a non vibrating 4 cyl during idle and on&off the pedal with no clunk. The clunky 1.4 manual Dart always sounded like something fell out of the chassis when down shifting at low speed.........don't know how the automatics were. The only thing that made up for the clunks was the great exhaust note! To this day I've never heard a 4cyl that sounded so great - including factory fart cans like a WRX or something. I used to love going through drive thrus at Fast Food, Bank, or Drug stores...... the adjacent wall always made for an amplifier ........ Gurrrrgle... Braaatt...Brrrrraatt....Blurrble ...gurggle ..... it was worth the price of using oil between changes!

Haha thanks everyone for the information and help. Dealership really didn’t want to budge on price so we’ll see what comes of that. Another option I found is a 2013 GT with 72k miles. Same options as the one I’m looking at now except the moon roof and it is $9,400 plus it’s a private seller. I know there were issues with the 2013 models but with 73K miles would those issues already have run their course if they were going to happen?
Probably not tbh. If the 13s have an issue it seems to always come back
Edit: For whatever reasons of social defect, Facebook has taken over for alot of the real time war stories. But still, the forum does have history !

I gotcha I understand with first year cars there is a better chance at there being a dud. Only thing that kinda draws me in a bit is that this guy has only ever done service at the dealership, and has the receipts for every single thing done on the car. Which is pretty nice. Also it’s not that I need a dart specifically it’s just that I do need a vehicle of some sort (like I said before my truck is totaled) and the dart is what I like best that is also in my price range is all.
Then after seeing the builds others have done with the Darts I kinda got more into the “what it could be” aspect aswell. I love projects and tinkering and working on things (I’m an aircraft mechanic) so the mods are honestly as fun to use as they are to install for me hahah
Traded-in my (first year production) 1993 Dodge Intrepid ES Sedan with ~170K miles on the odometer ... zero major issues:
Sold my (first year production) 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport with ~312K miles on the odometer (tranny was acting up) to a neighbor ... he fixed the transmission and they've put another 100K on it:
My (first year production) 2013 Dodge Dart Limited currently has over 190K miles on the odometer ... clutch master cylinder & turbo were replaced (free of charge) by FCA:
