Casper, the unfriendly Dart GT

Casper, my 2015 Dart GT, has had problems since I bought the car. Firstly, whenever I start the car and put it in reverse, the car bounces up and down, redlines, and speeds off backwards. This has lead to quite a few accidents. I brought it in to get it checked out 4 times, but they came up with absolutely nothing, and suggested I turn my car off and back on again if I have the issue... Oddly enough, that's the same advice HP gives me to fix my printer. Didn't know it worked on cars as well. But of course, that didn't solve the problem. So I brought it in again, and they reset the computers (all the PCUs, TCMs, IOUs, and 401Ks). And again... Nothing changed.

Fast forward a bit, and the car started making a metal-grinding noise. Similar to how a bad CV joint would sound, but more centralized, and doesn't change with wheel positioning. I got that looked at 3 different times, and they came up with ...you guessed it... nothing.

Fast forward a bit more, and the noise stopped. But now... My car doesn't accelerate. If I try to speed up, the car goes into neutral until it stalls on the road. Not very ideal. So I brought it in AGAIN. And they found... nothing. They could replicate the issue, but nothing.

Has anybody else had any of these problems? If so, how did you get it fixed?

Find a different dealer. You likely have shot engine/trans mounts. If the powertrain moves enough, it shifts for you.

We have heard something a slight bit similar that was led to finding the side and rear mounts were shot. I'm assuming it's a automatic you are working with? Just like
@alpinegreenneon
stated, if the motor and trans mounts are bad enough, it will cause the car to not shift, then shift, or any weird anomoly. That actually sounds very much like the cause.

And as for the dealer, they can't find the issue because they don't want to. It's that simple. Take it to another dealer and I'm sure you will get fixed up. Hopefully you have warranty. If you don't you might want to try a local mechanic shop instead.. CDJR seems to have hellatious prices for even simple things.. For all 3 mounts you are probably looking at north of $900 (Most of that price is installation)... If you don't have a warranty and are handy at all, go get the deyeme racing mounts (the 3 part kit is only $339) and DIY it for much less and have the good feeling that it won't happen again. Or I could see a shop charging around $200 to $300 to install them if you needed to. You would still save heavily over going to the dealer (that is unless you have a warranty!)

Here is some examples of someone who had to get motor mounts replaced not under warranty (allegedly)

This quote was edited to remove pointless info btw.

13 Limited is in the shop for broken engine mounts
So last night, my kid came home and said his Dart was clunking, grinding, rough idling, hard shifting, banging into gear and just generally junk! It also didn't seem to track properly like if it was out of alignment or something. Took it to the dealer today and they said the left side mounts sheared off and was hanging on by one bolt! At first I couldn't imagine that all these issues can happen from a busted motor mount?? But I have been reading about a bunch of issues with these things so I guess it is legit. Dealership had to order some parts so I wont know if it is fixed until next week. Not sure if the balance of the power train warranty will cover it but we have extended Chrysler max care coverage just in case!

Do you guys know of any recalls for motor mounts? It was just in the shop a few weeks ago and had all recalls performed including the module bracket recall. I just want to know in case they messed something up and try to bill our warranty deductible for it!

Specs: 13 Limited, 1.4T, Dual Dry Clutch Tranny
Also yes both people fixed their issues via replacement of the mounts.

Here's a video with a similar issue as well:

And here is a DIY video for the side mounts:

No video on the rear that I could find (rear trans mount) but just follow this thread:

Have you checked your oil level? The car will turn off if the oil is too low.

Yeah definitely check that as well.. But I Don't think it would account for the reverse issues he is having.

Yep! That seems to be the issue! My car has been squeeking as well like the video you posted, but I figured it was just my door grinding on something.

Thanks for the help everyone!

No problem! Take pictures and post for references and let us know how it goes after it's fixed! If possible, please take some videos of the issues you have been observing and post here/youtube for future use for others having the same issues.
