A beautiful day for an oil change. Went with the WIX XP filter instead of the Royal Purple this change.

Iíve run that filter my last 3 oil changes. Iím really happy with it. My oil consumption issues are greatly reduced using that filter

Heard nothing but good things about WIX filters on the board and other reviews. Have been running the Royal Purple filters, but could not get it delivered in time so I decided to try the WIX. Thanks for the confirmation.

Passed another V8 muscle car on a cloverfield on-ramp. These V8 guys are always scared to push their vehicles to the limits in the curves.

I just spent the last 3 hours replacing the rear engine mount with the firm Deyeme Racing mount. Whoever thought tapered e-torx bolts were a good idea for anything needs to be beaten with a breaker bar. One thing that I've never seen mentioned is that for the 1.4T at least, there is a downstream O2 sensor that limits how much you can bend the exhaust out of the way to reach those 3 bolts. At least corrosion wasn't much of an issue, even after almost 6 years and 6 salty Canadian winters.

The only issue I encountered, unrelated to the mount, is that there appear to be 2 separate fluid leaks. On the passenger side of the engine, there is some sort of oil leak of unknown origin. It's dripping onto the hot side intercooler piping where the hard plastic connects to the flexible part. On the driver's side, something else appears to be leaking. I don't think it's oil, but... well, all the fluids seems to be at normal levels. Again, I can't see the source of the leak, just the results where it's dripping a bit off the bottom. Weird.

Anyway, tomorrow morning... new spark plugs! And then I take it for a test drive to see how it performs with the new mount.

UPDATE: Wow, what a difference the motor mount makes! Other than some slightly increased vibrations at idle, especially with the A/C on, the car feels so much better. It is actually much smoother when actually driving, and the DDCT is so ridiculously smooth now that I can hardly believe it. Reverse works a heck of a lot better too, creeping much more smoothly than previously. And that OEM mount... pretty sad that this was the best that Dodge came up with.

@jsblanch could you post a pic of your old mount? A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Perhaps pics of the oil leaks too?

      ^^I second this LOL!
@jsblanch I was going to wait till it got warmer out to replace the engine mounts as well. Did you just support the engine with a floorjack while replacing the mount, and did you have to lift the car to get under it, or did you do the work from the top?
