The dreaded transmission control module. Had it occur, yet again, today. This will be the 3rd one replaced. This one lasted about 30,0000 miles. Has it ever been determined what the actual issue is with the TCM that causes them to fail? Is it the TCM itself, is it the harness leading to the TCM, etc.? With all the TCM failures we've all experienced, has there been any take away to cause?

Starting to wonder about the long term viability of my car. It's at 61,000 now. I'm thinking (hoping) that this one too is covered by warranty. But will the next one? It seems pretty evident Dodge never fixed the underlying issue and figured they'd just throw TCM's at the problem, but obviously there isn't an infinite supply. And obviously at some point I won't be in warranty. At this point I'm just done with this issue. That said, I still really like this car. Glutton for punishment.

When I got this recalled they told me it was the TCM harness or bracket whatever. I don't think they replaced the whole TCM just the piece that holds it. Something about it bending and snapping. Cheap materials maybe. It took one morning of my trans not responding for me to have to bring it into the dealership. But no trans problems since...

Something tells me this is unrelated?

Yes, spoke too soon inasmuch as at least this time around. Dealer is saying it's the hydraulic accumulator and pump. Want $2500 to replace ($1500 parts, $1000 labor). And with that it looks like I'm very much going to be dumping the Dart for something else.

The accumulator and pump are possible to replace without removing the trans from the car. I'm sure the parts can be had for less at AllMoparParts.com. Email Benny:
      [email protected]
He will need the VIN. Make sure to get any o-rings etc that may be required. This definitely is something you can do yourself. I can post the instructions if you are interested. Your dealer is highballing the cost to get you to buy a new vehicle.
      The hydraulic fluid:
C SERIES DDCT SAE 75W HYDRAULIC FLUID:
      Part No. 68092638AA

Yes, if you would post the instructions I'd appreciate that. It would be a bit of a long shot doing it on my own, but I know people that this wouldn't be and they owe me a favor, ha ha.

Couple of questions, what are the exact part numbers for the:

      Accumulator
      Pump
      Motor

The dealer has only mentioned the accumulator and the pump, should I exercise an over abundance of caution and go ahead and change the motor?

      Email Benny with your VIN:
      [email protected]

Tell him you want the whole assembly, accumulator, pump, o-ring, hydraulic fluid (68092638AA), any lines, and motor. Ask for an invoice that includes shipping. Tell him you are a member here and ask for his best price. When it's a bigger order, he can give a better discount, maybe even free shipping.

As long as you have the whole assembly off, you might as well replace all of it. Most likely, that is what the dealer would have done. As you can see from the instructions, there is really nothing complicated about this. Probably no more than 2-3 hours labor. Crazy that they quoted so much.

Thanks for that. Emailed him earlier but haven't heard back. I don't have my VIN as the car is with the dealer, did tell him what my car was (2013 Dodge Dart Aero 1.4T). So just now waiting.
