1.4 l engine removal and swap

ok everyone. i just removed my 1.4 l with DDCT transmission from the car. a few notes of interest.. I did not remove the hood. if you put it straight up and cut some wood so it will stay up you are good.

also you do not have to remove the front clip. i did but only because it was damaged. the radiator does not have to be removed. . i cut a piece of plywood the exact size and put it against it. the reason being i did not have to evacuate the A/C. the A/C has 2 clips that have to be removed then i zip tied it to the firewall. The wiring harness has to be disconnected at the pcm and anywhere it goes to the frame. the one going to the distribution box can be disconnected inside the box, thank God. cause it would be almost impossible to follow it behind the engine. leave that part on top. there are a ton of clips to remove. each one is a puzzle in itself. (ridiculous) hose clamps the same. Take your time and youll be ok. label eveything. and lots of pics. the clearance to get it out is about 1/2 inch. note. when you take it out be careful of the transmission linkage . you dont want to bend it. to do the job you will need a full tool kit plus a e18 torx and a 36mm axle socket., Another note. there arent great hoist points. i attached the lift to the left motor mount and the right. seems to be the strongest place.

If you separate the DDCT from the engine, you will need a special tool to set the flywheel.
