      What is this piece?

      On the Dodge Dart 2.0/2.4, on the T-stat housing. What is this plastic piece?
      I have a new leak in that area and it is either this piece, or I get to replace the upper radiator hose (again). Name: 1a5b6beb2c6da513025a45fa0cd546a1.JPG

      Are you sure that is the Dart thermostat housing? I do not see that having any connection in the FSM callout:

      Did a little googling for images. The pic you have is not a Dart thermostat housing.
      I also looked at my Darts. My thermostat housing looks different from your pic.

      The correct thermostat housing:

      Is it possible that's an older revision of the same part? Other than that black... thing sticking out of it, it looks like it would fit exactly the same.

      Found it...

      Evidently the 2015 SXT has exactly that part?.. Weird.. I'm sure a direct swap to the others. Also fits the 2.4L jeep from 14'

      Also it's strange depending on which MOPAR site you look at it can be the regular one, or the one that @VicodinDream has but the same part #. Honestly @VicodinDream , I would buy a new thermostat/housing without that plastic piece in a bung. It's pointless and is just an imminent failure to the system as you have noticed. And it's only 40ish bucks. I have seen plastic thermostat housings in cars for double that before. (Separately if there was ever a reason you needed a bung to have coolant for another system well.. I guess that one you have would be the best part to use).

      This part fits your 2015 Dodge Dart

      What's weird is that both thermostat housings appear to have the same part number right down to the version letters. Both of my Darts do not have the plastic part.

      @alpinegreenneon From what I can see the older versions had this provision while the later ones do not. Both are correct though.

      Here is the part # sequence of this part 5047772AB -> 5047861AA -> 5047861AB -> 5047861AC

      But what is this piece for? I have wondered if it is leaking from it too. I will be ordering a new lower hose this weekend, I already have the upper hose. I need to get some new clamps too. Anyone got recommendations?
