      Took in my Dart today...

So I took my Dart in today for a rubbing noise I heard.

Turns out I destroyed the wheel bearing and the rim. I'm not sure how this happened. It started about 4 days ago. I must have hit a pothole or something to do that. It's not covered under warranty. Pretty bummed..

Ouch...... That must of been one bad pothole to do something like that. Is the tire alright? The tire alone costs around $250, I just had to replace one of mine.

Yeah the tire is fine. Michigan is rough. Kinda surprised the wheel bearing got blown though.

They did find two updates for it though. A gauge update and a transmission update.

So I guess that's some good news...

Why is the wheel bearing not covered. Where did the rim go bad, in the center part or near the tire bead. Maybe there were loose lug nuts or a bad bearing failed and overheat the rim which damaged it.

Can you post a pic of the wheel that is damaged?

I know in Cleveland we can file claims with the city if our cars get damaged by the horrific potholes we have around the city. You might want to see if you could do that.

Wouldn't you need to know exactly what pothole caused the damage though?

I'm not exactly sure why it's not covered under warranty. I noticed the sound about four days ago traveling on the highway. Then, I started to hear it as I was braking.

So I took it in. The outer rim is damaged. I don't have a pic of the damage to post on here.

I have no idea how this could of happened. The only thing I can think of is a pothole, and they are nasty around here. This bums me out.

I would look for the biggest pot hole that you can find, and that you know you hit fairly recently... and draw the connection. Usually you can file claim against City/Town's insurance company due to damage that occured from an incident such as hitting a pot hole. They usually require a picture of the damage/bill, location of the pothole and then what ever narrative from you.

Yeah you do need to know where the damage occurred. That might be a problem if you don't know which pothole caused the damage. How would they know which pothole you hit? I have no idea... Try to be honest!

That is good advice. I think I'll go that route to get my money back. I know there will be more popping up too with the snow we're getting.

I just don't know how this would work...would I need to go through my insurance company at all?
