      What do you pay for Insurance?

      Well, back to insurance shopping. My insurance doubled when they decided to look at my nearly clean record to find that I had a "too fast for conditions back in 2014." Funny thing is, that too fast for conditions doesn't show up on my driving record from DMV.

      Pissed off, because I'm paying $270 instead of the when I bought my dart which was $134 with full coverage.

      Progressive is cheaper, but not by much. I'm wandering what everyone else pays, and with who!

      Please don't say statefarm... my name is Jake and I think theyd just laugh at me. LOL.

      P.S. No accidents, just 1 too fast for conditions - which was bullshit - on my record for the past 4 years. I'm 19, attend college, have good student, and good driver.

      its your age bracket and your ticket, your under 25 and have a "speeding" ticket. if you dont like the term "speeding" ticket then moving violation. you also have the "GT" model. If im the insurance comapny i see "sports car, under 25 and already have a ticket".

      you can try shopping around but its going to be tough.

      It also depends on where you live as well. You move it can go up. Is that $270 a month or for the whole 6 months?

      I have State Farm... and i pay about $400 for a 6month term. I have no accidents or tickets on my record, but my insurance went up due to the new car. Its only normal to see the insurance go up when you have an accident or moving violation... The insurance companies are the biggest scam on the planet and will do anything to get more money from you.

      When i had my dart, I was paying $235 a month for insurance with $1000 deductibles. Im 21 living in NY. I took a defensive driving course online and it brought it down to $210 a month. I have a clean record with nothing on it. I traded the dart and bought a 2014 Jetta SE 1.8T and now I pay $119 a month. They see the Dart as a sports car and charge as if it is one.

      Is that 270 for 6 months or a month??? If it's a month then damn, I'm paying $68.38 a month for my Dart...my total monthly payment for renters and 2 cars with full covereage is $120 a month...that's with American Family.

      It's $270 A MONTH! I was okay paying $134, but it just doubled over a ticket I had over 2 years ago. I've been paying insurance on 4 different cars between then and now with zero violations in between. All the 4 different cars were between $80-$102 a month. I expected the $134 for a sports car... but 1 month after I've owned the dart they double my insurance?

      And this is why I got a ticket, I'm a very safe conscious driver.
      I was going 20mph in a 35mph zone, in my 1973 charger. It was pouring rain, went around a corner, rear end slipped out - bald tires, and I went off the road and had to have a tow truck pull me out of the muddy grass (BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET OUT WITH BALD TIRES.) It was on a public road, and I did not damage any property, made sure of that by not trying to get out. The dumb f* across the street called the cops and they smacked me with a "reckless driving" because they thought I was driving recklessly which was utter bullshit and the hot head cop didn't want to hear my side of the story. I fought it and they said if you go out of the white lines in rain it's considered reckless driving. They gave me 2 points, $85 fine and knocked it down to too fast for conditions.

      My driving record has 0 points on it now. So why would my insurance double? I've had geico for over 4 years... Since I purchased my first car.

      did you talk to the cops? you have the right to remain silent you know. If you didnt call them and they showed up you can invoke your right to remain silent. your bad for driving with bald tires, not only are you putting yourself at risk but other drivers.

      If you called the tow truck on your own you should have been fine.

      @RchrdCranium

      Find a new insurance company. I wouldn't switch to geico for the simple fact that the only thing they say in their commercials is that you'll save money. I rolled my car, accident was my fault, I was the only involved party, and my insurance didn't change a penny. I'd highly recommend American Family.
