I use the "Active Topics" button to monitor the site, and sometimes 10+ of the top 15 are "Welcome to the site!" replies from one member to all the new "Hi, I'm new here!" threads. I'm all for welcoming new members, I just don't think a new thread is needed for each one.
      Just an FYI ...

The original intent of the https://www.dodge-dart.org/forum/new-...on-thread.html sticky thread (that CK started on May 30, 2012) was to actually post an introduction THREAD (vice post an introduction in that thread):

Whether your thinking of purchasing this hot new Dodge or already own one, jump in and tell us about yourself!
... but as you can see (after 3+ years and 1000+ reply posts), you are not the only one to interpret CK's sticky thread as the place to make an introduction POST (vice a suggestion to start a separate Introduction THREAD) ...

PS: I too use the "ACTIVE TOPICS" feature (or the "Current Threads" feature on the Dodge-Dart.org mobile app) to monitor the forum ... but I have no issue scrolling by the handful of (non-automotive) Off-Topic threads that don't interest me ... I suggest you do the same when that "57CD guy" welcomes 10+ new members to the community

I tend to agree with @Bullfrog ... inactive members should follow @UN4GTBL's lead and "un-volunteer" from their role as a Moderator or Super Moderator.

      NOTE:

      • @AndreaLee hasn't posted here since October 3, 2014 ... though she does seem to still lurk here on a bi-weekly basis.

      • @blackwidow hasn't posted here since October 9, 2014 ... and hasn't logged onto the forum since October 16, 2014.

      • @dgstorm is actually an "Editor in Chief" (i.e., a Forum Foundry employee and not a volunteer Moderator).

      • @Flynn Lives hasn't posted here since October 7, 2014 ... and hasn't logged onto the forum since February 27, 2015.

      • @Moparsrt hasn't posted here since January 19, 2013 (when he was working for an ex Supporting Vendor) ... and hasn't logged onto the forum since August 13, 2014.

      • @ryan1singer (one of the original Moderators) hasn't posted here since February 22, 2014 ... and hasn't logged onto the forum since March 8, 2015.

I'm taking a step towards this. As of today the Please Post an Introduction thread has been closed. I left a post directing others to post a thread rather than posting there.

Well as you can see I got a new color and title. The staff are working and have brought on myself and un4givn85 on as staff. We currently are 'in training' so we will be helping out in the future.

Like I have said before there is a life cycle of most members. I have some ideas as well that may help with things.

And here I was wondering what I had done when I got the email!

I thought it would be a good idea to step down as I had finally made my decision to not buy a Dart, and look at other vehicles. I was here from the beginning and I was also one of the first moderators to help out. I'm rather proud that my member number is below "50"

I noticed that my visiting frequency had dropped substantially, and I too have seen all too many moderators reduce their activity to not much, or stop visiting completely on other sites, and didn't want to do that to the members.

Hopefully it hasn't changed from when I was a moderator here, but @cereal killer and the rest are an awesome bunch that run this site!

That kind of thing happens everywhere. Peoples' tastes change, or life gets busy, or whatever. I'm not going to give volunteer moderators too hard a time, as they're not being compensated for the work that the do, but if they're just not into the "scene" anymore, it would be nice if they took your lead and just bowed out if favor of more active people. In the 2 years I've been on this site, people have come and gone, but this is still one of the most interesting, fun forums around. It's good to see some of the "new blood" ( @youngsmith53 , @Bullfrog , I'm lookin' at you guys) stepping up and trying to make some changes for the better.

Absolutely, and like I said, this site has a great team looking after it. As a moderator you will never please everyone, but you just do the best you can with the time you have to make the site as great as it can be. I'm still an active moderator on a couple other sites - of which I have the vehicle in question - and it's great to be able "give back to the community"

Just for kicks, I checked the member list - even after all this time, I still have the 7th highest post count here lol!
