I believe it does do voice like it does for the nav. I haven't messed with it much though except to make a couple phone calls.

Has anyone figured out how to get ALL album art from the ipod to show on the screen?? I am obsessive compulsive when it comes to things like this. Every song in my itunes library has an album art associated with it...whether its the actual legit album art or one that I have created myself for my custom mixes, but they do not show up. I tried JPEG's and then I tried PNG's thinking that maybe it was a filetype issue...and still doesn't show everything, especially my custom arts. It bugs the crap out of me when I see that stupid gray square with the music note on it! any ideas??

It does not display embedded album art, every one of my mp3s has the album art embedded in the ID3 tag and it only displays the album art from the gracenote DB it has. This is on a USB drive.

If the album art isn't in the Gracenote database then it will not appear. It doesn't matter where you got the song, if the album art is on the thumb drive, or attached to the MP3 file. If its not in the original database, then it will not appear. And before you ask no, there's no way at this point to upgrade the database. So any new song that came out won't appear, and anything non-original (like the music I listen to) or homemade music will not appear.

As people have mentioned, embedded album art is not displayed - it will only display album art for officially released albums that are in the onboard database. In addition, in order for it to show up right, you need to make sure that the tagging is 100% correct. Most folk's music is not tagged completely - even though they claim it is!

And in case you ask, yes, there are ways to update the database...

I'm not saying that it's easy, though. Yet...

I just got my Dart and I too am hoping to figure out how to get the album art from my iPod onto my screen without using Gracenotes. Has anyone made progress since the last post in December?

I've not run into limits when connecting iPhone 4, but I did run into an interesting little tidbit with my SD card.

I've got a 32GB SDHC, FAT32. I finally got around to loading all my music on there. I put it in the car (uconnect 8.4, Aero) and it started playing the first song on the disk (first song alphabetically) and started discovering the songs. Slower than I'd like, but not unreasonable. I was finally able to browse and discovered I could only see artists #-M, and not all the M's.

Thinking maybe I'd hit some arbitrary directory limit or character limit with long file names in the root of the drive I created 3 folders and broke the list up into roughly equal (by size) chunks. Put it in the car, same problem.

Then I put the card in the computer and started looking at all the stats to see if anything popped out at me, any magic numbers. I found one. Guess how many directories my UConnect is reading? There's my magic number.

My UConnect is hitting a binary limit for some reason. It was seeing 1023 directories, 1024 if you include the root directory. Moving the directories has no effect other than to increment the number of subs seen. (The parent directory consumes 1, so the total is always 1024.) It could be just coincidence, but that's a mighty big one.

Anyone else seen this behavior? I've only seen a couple people mention the directories stopping at a certain, seemingly arbitrary, point but no one has ever posted a count on the directories and I've seen plenty of other posts of peoples libraries that work just fine that seem like they probably have more than 1024 directories, so I'm at a loss as to why I'm seeing this.

The several computers I've had this card in do not have a problem with the directory structure or seeing everything.

UPDATE: I just got an idea and used a usb 'card reader' & plugged into the USB port in the console. No change in behavior. Only 1024 directories recognized.

UPDATE 2: I just tried a Sony 16GB and a Sandisk 4GB USB flash drives. Same effect on both. This time I shrank the amount of data by purging all the music from all the directories and copied one 10 second clip one time to each album directory. The result was only 931 songs in 1507 directories consuming only 214MB of space. The radio still wouldn't see it all. It only saw the first 1024 directories, a total of only 648 10-second songs, 1024 directories, 149MB.

How is everyone able to use drives that see tens of thousands of songs and tens of gigabytes of data? Is all the music in just one big disorganized mass on the root of the drive?

Just one more issue with SD cards and USB drives. I keep a 160GB iPod Classic plugged into the USB port. Sounds better, and none of these silly limitations.
