8.4 Uconnect problem with Android
I joined this forum specifically because of this Uconnect problem with my new 2013 Dart Rallye. I noticed a similar problem was already posted on this forum. However, none of those solutions have made any difference with my problem.
I have the 8.4N w/Uconnect in my car.
I have a Droid Razr Maxx running 4.0.4.
I have left wifi turned off on the phone.
I have tried un-pairing and re-pairing at least 6 times.
I have "allowed bluetooth bypass" in the security screen.
And I have tried pairing the devices with just phone audio enabled and with just media audio enabled. (neither made a difference)
Here is what is happening. After pairing my phone I can see my phonebook and txt messages on the 8.4 screen. I can even play music from my phone over bluetooth, when I have audio enabled, and it works just fine. My problem begins when I attempt to make a call. Calling from my phone screen and called from the 8.4 render the same problem. The 8.4 screen says "calling person" and no ring or sound is made on my end. But the person I am trying to call gets the ring, but when they answer they cannot hear me and I cannot hear them (or the ringing). After about 30-45 seconds of no sound, the bluetooth connection is broken and sometimes my phone gives me a message that says "app is not responding" I have the option to wait or to close.
Thanks, I appreciate your time.
It appears to be a Bluetooth bug on certain phones. Google your phone with terms "Bluetooth profile issue audio phone". Bluetooth has different profile modes, e.g. Phone, audio (streaming). Sounds like the phone is not properly changing from audio profile to phone profile when call initiates. Bluetooth profiles at issue are A2DP, HFP, and HSP. Google "Bluetooth profiles" for more info.

From another forum:
I had to uninstal the voice dialing features on the phone. Things like driving mode too. Not dissable, uninstall.
It's a droid phone, probably running ICS. So those features are probably on there just like my Samsung galaxy II
When you press call, do you hear the car voice or the google phone voice for dialing? If you hear the phone and not the car voice, that's probably the issue.
You say it got you phone book to sync, and see call history so they are talking. But by default the phone wants to control the calls even when Bluetooth connected.
It's hard to explain and took me quite a while to sort out what was going on. But once I got it working, it's been rock solid. ( I called it "lobotomizing" droids extra phone features)
It seems to vairy by phone operating system. Blackberry has connection issues. Apple has missing feature issues and droid has issues with consistent dialing.

I have a Droid Razr and it works perfect now. I restored the phone to factory specs. If there are a lot of text messages on the phone, it confuses Uconnect I think. Im running ICS and works perfect. I had the same dialing issue before I restored. How many texts are on the phone?
Just thought I'd chime in here with the link to UConnect in order to check what phones are compatible with what carrier etc.
