2014 GT went into Limp Mode after stopping at a light

I was stopped at a light today after driving my 2014 Dart GT (39K miles) for about 20 minutes of normal "in town" driving traffic. Car was running great/no issues. I stopped at a red light. Once the light turned green, I let off on the clutch and hit the gas (reasonably as their was someone in front of me) and all of a sudden the CEL, Traction Control and Electric Throttle Control Lights all came on and the car would not produce power.

I assume I was in "Limp" mode and was able to quickly turn into a parking lot and power of the vehicle. After about a minute, I started it back up. The CEL light returned, but the Traction Control and Electronic Throttle Control lights were no longer present and the car behaved normally. As I had somewhere to be, I continued on my way.

When I was finally able to return home, I threw on my scanner and it showed a P2172 - Throttle Actuator Control System - Sudden High Airflow Detected. I used my scanner to clear the code, but a "Permanent" P2172 remained. When I restarted the vehicle, the CEL was gone, but I only let it idle for a few moments in the driveway. I then removed the negative terminal and am going to let it sit like that until morning.

Anyways, anyone else experience this? I guess further driving will determine if this is just a one time gremlin or not, but wondering if anyone else has seen something similar. Thanks for any feedback.

Sounds like a bad throttle pedal sensor possibly.

      28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics / MODULE, Powertrain Control (PCM), 2.4L / Diagnosis and Testing

P2172-HIGH AIRFLOW/VACUUM LEAK DETECTED (INSTANTANEOUS ACCUMULATION)

      When Monitored and Set Conditions

When Monitored: This diagnostic runs continuously when the following conditions are met:

      •With the engine running.
•No MAP Sensor, Throttle Body, CMP/CKP Sensor or 5-Volt Reference DTCs.
      •P2174 is not present.

      Set Conditions:

•The PCM monitors and compares the difference between the actual Map Sensor reading and the calculated Map Sensor model over time. The PCM detects an instantaneous difference between these two values, beyond a calibrated threshold, indicating that there is an air leak in the intake system.

      Default Actions:

      •The MIL light will illuminate.
      •The ETC light will flash.

      Possible Causes

      VACUUM LEAK
      RESTRICTION IN THE EXHAUST SYSTEM
      INTERNAL ENGINE MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
RESISTANCE IN THE 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE IN THE MAP SIGNAL CIRCUIT
RESISTANCE IN MAP SENSOR GROUND CIRCUIT
      MAP SENSOR
      POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)

Connected the battery again this morning and had no CEL. Drove the car for over 80 miles today, high way and back, country roads going spans at 25 mph and hitting over 90 on the highway on the way home. No issues and the CEL did not come back on. My butt dyno is telling me that I am down on power a bit though. May be in my head, but it seems a little off when goosing it or down-shifting to pass. Does the RRM Spectrum Tuner take a bit to get its act together after the negative being disconnected for a length pf time?

The ECU goes through a learning period for the first 80-100 miles. After that you should feel the spectrum kick in harder.

Did you check your oil level? My car starts to feel a little sluggish when it’s starting to get low

I had just checked oil level on Saturday. A-Okay.

Car seems much better today. Throttle response and power is what I remember/expect. I also just realized I did not use the Alfa app when diagnosing.
