P2050 code for oil pressure sensor

so my check engine light came on 2 days ago and it was the oil pressure sensor. i have the 2.0 rallye and i looked up where it was.

TOOLS NEEDED FOR THE REMOVAL AND INSTALL
      :

      - oil pressure sensor socket (at autozone for $12)
      - 3/4 ratchet (for the socket) (adjustable angle makes it 10x easier)
      - either 8mm socket or flat head screwdriver
      - trim puller fork (for the wiring harness on top of the motor)
      - razor blade

      1) take off the engine cover, being careful to unplug the MAF sensor

      2) the oil pressure sensor is on the rear of the motor on the passenger side of the car. the wiring harness connected to it is held on by a plastic clip, and holds the wiring tight to the motor. use the razor blade to cut the strap.

      3) on top of the motor, following the wiring from the sensor, will be held down by 2 plastic trim holders. these will make it difficult to move the wiring around the sensor. pull those up, being careful not to break the clips (if you do its no big deal because the foam on the back will help keep it in place).

      4) on the oil pressure sensor connector there is a red clip that holds it tight to the sensor. you need to push the clip all the way to the side before unplugging the connector.

      5) after moving the wiring harness and connector out of the way, place the OPS socket on the sensor, and then place the ratchet on and take the sensor off (make sure to put the new sensor next to it to verify that the threading is the correct size and that the sensor has the correct wiring prongs) (autozone has theirs for $65 but it was not the correct size or prong number so it wouldnt work) if the sensor is correct then install the new part.

just fyi: i still havent got mine replaced because advance auto didnt have the part in stock. i will be going today to get the part from them and verify that it is correct. i will be updating this post later today with pictures for everything. i was at autozone for 3 hours trying to figure out how to get the old sensor off so please take your time.

Are you sure you are looking at the correct sensor on the engine? Even the FSM seems to be confused about the location.

very true. as you stated the parts are very confused and the part that i got from autozone was indeed the oil temp sensor. thanks for the insight on that. great point to make that shows you really need to pay attention to the prongs on the part so that way you know before hand if the part is right or not.

Size: 223.4 KB if you go to autozone the only thing they have at this moment is the temp switch that has a 2 prong system as stated above. This is the correct sensor (also labeled as a sender) that has 3 prongs. The threading on the bottom that goes to the motor is also wider than the one from autozone.
