behind the shield (engine exhaust heat shield

So i was bored after work today and wanted to tinker with the car so i took off the stock heat shield to see the stock exhaust manifold. I must say, i am very impressed with Dodge's engineering. Here take a look!

They almost look equal length to the catalytic converter, i was pleasantly surprised to see individual pipes instead of a cast piece.

Doesn't look like there's going to be much benefit from getting a header besides removing the cat and/or tuning the length for a different powerband.

exactly... getting longer primaries will make more low end without affecting the top end, just what is needed

Someone needs to make a 4-2-1 for the 2.0 and 2.4. It'd be interesting to see the gains from it. If the 2.4 gets 15HP from an intake, just image what a long tube could do for it.

I remember having to move some 02 sensors around on my 01tiburon that caused a CEL, you could not extend the factory wires without causing issues. a 4-2-1 your going to be moving stuff around, not really fan of doing that based on past experiences. then there is engineering of a cat front (is that even a thing?) redesign. then your looking at price of headers and a new cat converter and making it all fit, and down the rabbit hole it goes.

"hey kids look headers for 2.4/2.0, only 599! complete exhaust modification needed!"

      quantity sold...... O'Fer....

      PS.

If you take off your heat shield the edges are sharp and the 'washers' they use around the bolt holes will cut you up real good.

With that being said... would the TMC catless downpipe fit the 2.0's/2.4's?

Going by the pics in this thread, the cat is part of the exhaust manifold. There is no downpipe on the NA engines. Just a shorty header (exhaust manifold) and a mid pipe.
