So I'm guessing it doesn't exactly match the Dart Redline paint.

      I installed mine yesterday.
Since I thought my heat wrap was coming in today, I went and pulled my charge pipes so I could have a head start.
No joy, have to wait until Monday now.

PTP says it can go over the stock one or replace it, I suggest replacing it, fits better

I actually went to the PTP web site and they show the blanket installed over the heatshied. It can be done with the OEM hardware and that is how I installed mine. You want to remove some of the protection by removing the metal heat shield, that's up to you.

Everything fit much better without the factory heat shield I was afraid something would come loose due to the bolts barely threading in with both. I actually did it both ways with and without the factory heat shield really could tell no difference but thanks for the info.

I took a pair of vise grip pliers and flattened out the rings that the rear bolts go through so that the bolts went in better. I guess you could use a hammer also to flatten them out. Not while the blanket is on the engine though. That blanket will last longer if it isn't up against the exhaust manifold.

.... have you felt how much heat pours out of the engine bay when you open the hood, and how hot pretty much EVERYTHING in the engine bay is after turning the car off.... even a little while after? I'm pretty sure whether you make the effort to try to put it on top of the OEM heat shield, or take the OEM shield off and just use the turbo blanket, it's not going to matter. Pretty sure however hot the exhaust manifold gets, the heat shield isn't far behind. I mean... it is just a piece of metal, bolted to another piece of metal, with only a little bit of air between the two.

Look at the manufacturer's website for the specs on what the blanket can handle.

      PTP Turbo Blanket Heat Tolerance:
      Interior Surface:
      Max Temperature Rating: 2300 Deg F / 1260 Deg C
      Continuous Use Limit: 1832 Deg F / 1000 Deg C

      Exterior Surface:
      Direct Contact Limit: 1000 Deg F / 538 Deg C
      Radiant Heat Limit: 1700 Deg F / 927 Deg C
Tolerates a continuous temperature of up to around 1,000 Degrees Celsius. soooo.... unless your exhaust manifold is glowing hot the entire time you're driving, i'm pretty sure it doesn't matter whether you have the OEM shield on or not. Hell, if any part of the engine ran hot enough to make someone feel like they needed an extra piece of sheet metal to hopefully protect an aftermarket product designed to keep heat away, i'd be far more concerned for the rest of the stuff under the hood than the $180 blanket.... like maybe WIRES melting.
