      Yeah, now I'm thinking this transmission is problematic and too bad Chrysler has decided not to stand behind it... Wish I had the fun of "launching it" at least, but stepping on the gas and waiting a full second for it to move was the best I ever got out of it. Oh well, time to cut my losses.

      Dual dry clutch transmissions like the C635 differ from those used in supercars, which are dual wet plate clutch transmissions. Automatic transmission that use planetary gears are absolutely not simple, nor are they necessarily more reliable. I've blown my share of automatics and it was just through normal day-to-day use. I'll reserve judgement on the 6F24 until a lot of people are hitting 100K+, which is when we'll start to find out how they wear long-term.
      I wish somehow they could pair the 9-speed automatic with this engine. That's one slushbox I bow down to, it works wonders for any car they put it on. I would run that auto-trans against any DDCT in its class.

      If you look at reliability/recalls for ANY car that uses a DDCT... there are hundreds of complaints. They have a horrible history on every city car they were ever used for.

      Also the regular Fiat 500s come with a DDCT, just the Abarth version decided to ditch the trans. I'm not saying I know why they switched, was just throwing that out there with my opinion. The Alfa 4C falls under that high-dollar sports car category I mentioned above BTW. The Dart probably cost 1/3 of what the cloverleafs do.

      I know the 2.0T VW modding scene has been purring along with their wet-dual-clutch transmissions since 2004 (2003 in Europe). Seems like ours was the cheap-out version.

      DWCT seems better than a DDCT from what jsblanch mentioned above but I was curious if they suffered greater drivetrain loss being a wet-setup and so far that seems to be true (Googling up stuff right now lol). DDCT may be the cheap-out version but it is the more practical of the two under commuting conditions.

      If you go to the biggest car forum in the world, VWvortex, you will find thousands upon thousands of people running a lot more power than stock through their DSG transmissions without any problems, even big turbo modders. Googling things is like Facebook. A bunch of kids who can't even drive yet making up stories about their supposed life, imo.

      Are the newest DSG's the same freak of engineering as the originals? I've been craving to drive a diesel/awd setup and if VW made one in that combo other than a station wagon I would be sold in an instant. Torque and traction combo would be crazy fun to drive.

      I'm just too skeptical of these transmissions I guess... maybe I should lay off the Google. GL with the transmission, my Abarths been in the shop for 3 weeks and killing me so I know how you feel. I'll trade you a Veloster rental for your 500 rental, lol.
