    Maybe this means they are seriously considering making the SRT Dart AWD? That was one of the biggest problems with the NSRT-4 was traction. Way too much power to drive only the front tires without stickier tires.

    They probably can't make the Dart faster than the stock Neon or Caliber SRT's in FWD form, because of weight. With that in mind, adding AWD makes sense; at least as an option. I mean turbo-ing the 2.4L has been on the plate for a while (most of you have seen me post the engine "sheet" from the 5-yr plan via Allpar). Whether that has changed or not, is the question. Will they shoe-horn in the Phoenix.. err.. Pentastar or not? who knows. I know that the Cherokee will use the 2.4L and the Pentastar engine. Will it fit the Dart while maintaining crash-regulations and other regulatory standards? Who knows. lol

    That will definitely be the problem. The Dart already weighs approx 300 pounds more than the NSRT. Bigger engine, stronger trans, beefed up suspension, and not to mention that AWD system, the Dart needs to lose a lot of weight somewhere else and make a ton of power to compete with the NSRT. Plus the NSRT was underrated for HP. It will for sure be interesting to see what they come up with if they ever come out with a SRT version.

    It'll likely be somewhere around 300-315hp when they do come out with one; after-all that's what the Caliber was supposed to have when they had to de-tune it for epic torque-steer issues. Another reason why I think AWD, or possible RWD conversion (hopeful, but not likely; given the transverse engine setup; unless they changed THAT too.. who knows? Gillies does, but ya kno he isn't saying anything. xD)

    If it's only around 300-315, it won't compete with the CSRT or NSRT. Like you said before suzq044, too much weight in the dart. Dodge could easily build a 2.4T producing over 300 HP with today's technology. Hell, the NSRT extreme lightweight with stage 3 w/ turbo toys to run 100+ race gas and a side exhaust put down 369 HP and 381 TQ I think. Now throw that turbo, or a better one with direct injection and better control of the valves, 350 HP would be very reasonable, which this car would need with all that weight.

    At that point you're comparing a modified SRT Neon/Caliber versus a Stock Dart. Hardly a fair comparison.

    I agree that it wouldn't be a fair comparison, but my point is that if they were to use something similar to that turbo if they ever release the Dart, it would have that potential HP from the factory.

    Well, the engine they had on the 'chart' was a Direct Injected, Multi-Air II, Turbocharged, Tigershark 2.4L (talk about a mouthful) @ approximately 300hp.

    Remember, that every year the SRT-4 was out, it increased in horsepower. They have to leave room for that. Same goes for the existing drive-trains.

    That is a mouthful. Guess we will have to see what SRT ends up deciding to do with it if they actually do anything at all. Kinda sad not seeing a turbo 4 cylinder in the SRT lineup for now.

    The thing is; as he said, he's got a lot on his plate. Most likely working on the new LX line (Charger, Challenger, 300, and Barracuda). The next generation will be due out relatively soon, I think.. I know the final refresh set is going to be 2014..

    According to allpar this is the plan.
