2013 Dodge Dart Helps Boost December Sales Numbers

Chrysler Group LLC today reported U.S. sales of 152,367 units, a 10 percent increase compared with sales in December 2011 (138,019 units), and the group’s best December sales since 2007. Helping to bolster that 10% increase is none other than the Dodge Dart, which saw sales move up 36 percent month-over-month in December, the compact car’s best monthly sales performance since it went on sale in June. Overall the company is continuing to post phenomenal figures with their entire product line seeing some excellent sales figures. Take a look at these figures:

• 33rd-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains
• Chrysler Group U.S. sales increase 21 percent in 2012; outpaces projected 13 percent average industry increase
• Chrysler Group U.S. market share grows to 11.2 percent in 2012; up from 10.5 percent share in 2011

Reid Bigland, President and CEO Dodge Brand and Head of U.S. Sales, wrote, “Looking back on 2012, we were again one of the fastest growing automakers in the country with total sales up 21%. We also recorded 33-consecutive months of year-over-year sales growth and our strongest annual sales in five years.” It looks like Chrysler is on the rise and is forging some excellent street cred.

WoW that is some GREAT news! Jim Cramer on Mad Money yesterday said "Buy Ford". I am starting to think it might be time to "Buy Chrysler"!

Good to know! A lot of people are crapping on the Dart and I don't really know why. Higher quality interior than any other compact, more power, MUCH better options, and the design is obviously opinion, but I think it looks great. It's really not even on the same level of something like a Corolla or Forte. Someone described the DDCT shifting like head banging at an AC/DC concert. Not in the one I drove.

People are just gonna hate on American cars, despite a lot of the imports being boring appliances with nothing special about them.

This is really great to see and I'm so happy for Chrysler. Regarding the Dart I don't find this a bad thing at all 6,105 units were sold compared to 4,000 something last month. That's a good increase and I see it going gradually up in 2013. Once the Aero's start apperaing and R/T's especially I think we will see at least a 1,500-2000 unit sales increase per month. The more people see the Dart on the road the more people who will buy them. I have lost track of the # of people I see starting at it constantly at intersections. Even luxary car owners!

I mentioned in another thread I don't expect it to see Corolla/Civic #'s that are already established reliable cars for the most part. This is Dodge's entry in a segment it hasn't been in for a while, a first year car, and just a preview what we will get with the Fiat/Chrysler partnership to come.

For Chrysler the 200 hasn't even been revised, the 100 will be coming out which will be pretty sweet, and the Avenger will be re-done as well maybe RWD even? or at least revised for the better. Chrysler has the great Pentastar engine as well! Remarkable for a company that was about to be gone forever a couple years ago. Let people say what they want, but they are back. When they were struggling I predicted they would have a great comeback and it happened. One day I see them being back on top as one of the top automakers.

Chrysler needs to get the buyer's confidence back and by owner's sharing their great success of the car will be a great start. Let's keep the ad campaigns running strong as well. I love the Dart one's, but now it's time for a new song to use (even though I like it) lol The Fiat 500 also started very slow, but now sales are picking up a lot more. I'm sure the Dart will be similar to this if not even better sales pickup. This probably won't happen, but I think Dodge should really start making the racetrack taillights standard. This would make the car standout even more to other compacts and it just looks super sweet! I still love how they use nice strong LED's for the lights, but I can't wait till I get my full taillights soon.
