Well folks it's finally going to become a reality. The ups, downs, it's coming, it's not coming can finally be put to rest. In the middle of Fiat Chrysler's announcement of their five-year plan a slide popped up and revealed, you guessed it, the Dodge Dart SRT! According to sources at the announcement the 2016 Dart SRT will be a forced induction AWD beast. No word on horsepower or MSRP, but at this point who cares--the Dodge Dart SRT just became a reality.
How will this change the landscape with current Dart owners? Who's going to sell/trade theirs off for The Dodge Dart SRT? Let us know in the comments section.
We KNOW the SRT will be awd; but the normal one will likely still be fwd. I think what Chrysler wants you to do is get a car that needs awd to get it. The 200, it'll be seen as a luxury item, where on the dart, it is not necessary. But, if there's demand, then it might be tested, who knows, this is YEARS away at this point.
I hope so too; but keep in mind the Challenger/Charger/300 are not exactly on the same platform as the future-Dart. lol
Just because it's possible with one platform doesn't make it possible with all of them.
There better be a manual version. Why make a sport car with just stupid automatic. Also everyone saying it'll be an Evo killer it won't be because evos are out of production lol the sti and wrx is what we have to worry about
The dual clutch "semi" automatic isn't exactly automatics of old there are regular automatics cvt's and dual clutch semi automatics also in some high end cars they use dual clutch autos with independent shifting rods It allows you to get that power jerk from the shift there not exactly automatics
That is true, but my Dart DDCT has a max-boost delay of about a second after you floor it that does not feel like boost lag, which you won't get anyway on turbos like the VW Borg-Warner K03S or our even tinier Dart Garrett turbos. I would hope the Tork tune eliminates it, but I have never driven a tuned Dart so I am only guessing.
Whenever someone talks about direct injection they always mention carbon buildup in their engine. A new line of oils (that is of lower quality than the oils they supersede) is required for many (all?) DI engines. I prefer the Italian Multi-air technology in my 1.4T for reaching maximum efficiency. Soon someone on here will be putting out 200 hp per liter from our engines (with the OEM turbo), while still getting 41+ mpg hwy. How is that for high-tech?
That's the idea of a dual clutch transmission. You essentially have 2 transmissions fused into 1. With one handling the odd gears and the other the even while you're in first second gear is spooling up ready for the shift. Which means it keeps the rmps up initially keeping max torque and hp ready for the next gear. In older cars especially turbo ones the only way to accomplish that is by power shifting. Which you always run the risk of majorly fucking something up. So basically when you're on it in manual mode it's essentially power shifting flawlessly every time a dual clutch "semi automatic" transmission will shift faster for you than you could on you're own engaging and releasing the clutch you're self. Cars like the gtr or ferrari or lamborgini the list goes on or even indy formula 1 cars wouldn't be the same without them. They may be a newer idea in daily drivers but they've been around for a long time and are the product of racing greatness. These transmissions give you all the power and control ability of a manual and the comfort of driving an automatic in traffic and we all know traffic isn't where we want to be with a manual transmission. Aside that better fuel economy numbers because whilst in automatic mode the car still behaves like a manual adjusting shifts based on how hard you're on the gas and Down shifting like a manual it always keeps you in the exact gear you need to be in whether flooring it or carousing around the city or trying to save gaz
The darts sales aren't as bad as you think all of the darts left are dealer darts that were bought and purchased from the manufacture. There was a lot of hype and response for the car when it initially came out so dealers gobbled them up like candy to prepare for the hype. The sales did really well but they all ended up over buying as a result there now trying to sweep that stock off. Combine that with the incentives the 200 and avenger had with the dart having almost none that takes away from sales. Now that the dust has settled I'm sure dealers will be buying a more appropriate amount. Once the car leaves the plant it's already bought and paid for
