    Problem with remote start

About every forth or fifth time using remote start, the car will crank once and then not start. I have to outside go out and it just says remote start disabled. I then try to start it normaly and it just cranks and cranks. I have to cycle the key on and off 3 or 4 times before it will unwillingly sputter and finly start. Whats up with this? Anybody have this problem?

You are not alone. See this thread: Dart Not Starting (Not my Dart)

FYI: The first time mine did this I also had to try to turn it over a half dozen times. What I have done successfully since then when it fails to remote start is to get in, turn the key to "Run" for about 3 seconds, then turn it to Start. Fires right up every time.

By fuel pressure could you mean the thing where people say you should have your gas tank in the cold/winter over the half way point? One video I saw with this problem had their tank at a quarter or less only. I'm wondering if since it is a brand new car, maybe it is having a problem in the cold when the tanks aren't close to full?
Probably not the problem, just a thought.

I think he means it loose fuel pressure while it sits and when you try to use the remote start there is no fuel pressure present, thats why it will start when you turn the key to on before you turn it to start. This alows the fuel pump to build pressure first. I had saturn that always did this, was a bad check valve in the tank and lost fuel pressure after sitting a while. Just speculating that this is a similar problem.

Yup loosing fuel pressure. If each person that is having the problem try building up the pressure before hitting start then you'll see if it is and if so make a video of it and show that to the dealers

Ah I gotcha. At least that wouldn't be a problem with the engine then. Anyone having this problem should definitely inform their delaers so Chrysler becomes aware of this happening to some Darts.

I am not sure if this is the same problem, but our remote start will start the car just fine and will die a after a minute or three (only happened a couple times so far).. Therefor there is sufficient fuel supply/pressure at time of remote start but the remote start seems to disable for no reason. Then you get in and try starting it and it just cranks. You have to cycle the key once or twice and it will fire up. I believe disabling the fuel system is part of the safety feature on the remote start when it becomes disabled (anti-theft?). As for the unexplained disabling.....I will make a point not to touch any remote buttons after starting it to rule out accidental bumping of the button. As far as not remote starting at all, we thankfully have not had that happen yet.

So I have this same thing. I have been posting about. They did all rapid responses, and it still happens. When it happens again, use the other key you got. From what my dealer is telling me there is an issue with the communication between the car and the key. Since we dont have a physical key that goes in the ingnition, we have a square peice of plastic. There is an issue with the chip in the key, and its disabling the car.

experienced this on a customer's car today (2.0L auto/-13*C/gas tank full). used remote start and it started and ran for about one second, then stalled. tried it again and it would not remote start. EVIC message said "remote start disabled-start to reset" (will do this if first attempt is aborted for any reason). tried starting with key and i let it crank for 5 seconds before cycling the key. it fired right up on second attempt. sure sounded like a fuel pressure issue. installed a fuel pressure guage and will retest monday morning. i'll update with results monday night.
how to find information about your dart
