We went to the mall this afternoon. When returning to the car to go for dinner to a different place. The backdoor on the leftside wont open. It was fine before we left from home. My son got in from the other side. After we had dinner, i tried to unlock the door again and this time it opened. Anyone knows what went wrong?
Mine did the sender thing last night but it was both rear doors. Both my passenger and I had to close our doors and lock the car and then unlock and it worked fine. I was thinking maybe it was a security feature or something but the more I think about it the more I think it was just an electrical glitch with all the electronics in cars these days.
I've had it happen in other cars before. Remember that you're actuating a solenoid of various kinds to move the lock. Depending on the design of the control, it may be that you didn't hold the button quite long enough for the solenoid to be powered for long enough to move the lock mechanism fully. While I have no reason to think the Dart will be undependable, remember it is a car not a Boeing airliner. Power lock systems are not going to be the most reliable system produced by humans
I was using the remote key. Mine was set to unlock the driver door on one click. Pushing the unlock button twice will unlock all doors. I was surprised that the backdoor on the left wouldnt open. Even from the inside. Then all of a sudden after we had dinner. I unlocked all doors using the remote key then it opened.
Yeah, if the door is locked it won't open from either direction.....
So you only hit it twice? Did you hit it twice quickly or was there a little delay? Possible the keyless entry timed out and caught it as two driver's door unlocks. Possible that it was just a fluke.
It was -14C at that time. Does cold temp has anything to do with that as well? My wife sits at the backdoor on the right. My son on the left door. All three doors opened after i pushed unlock twice.
yeah, that's certainly possible. the lock mechanism could have been frozen (or at least stiff enough from the cold the solenoid didn't have enough force to move it) and on the way home it thawed out
Yeah. Id probably do that. I only had the car for 2months.
