Unfortunately, without a ton of money and time... its not going to happen. This car was built as an economy car... and its going to stay like that. Now that the darts are done being produced, there is no reason for companies to spend countless hours trying to make them faster. You can do the little bit there is thus far... but unless youre willing to dump a ton of money in, its not going to be what it could be.

I'm still not sure why you think the 500L is any less of an "economy" car, because that is exactly what it is. I have been unable to find anything to suggest that it is easier to tune than the Dart 1.4T, but keep in mind that the 500L tuning community is rather... puny, even compared to the Dart. The 500L is perhaps Fiat's least popular model in North America, and considering that all of their vehicles are pretty unpopular, that's saying something. Everything that I can find about the 500L suggest that it has exactly the same drivetrain configuration as the Dart. Like I said before, I'm pretty sure it doesn't even have the "Sport" button that every other North American 500 model has (but which is conspicuously absent in the Dart).

I'm pretty sure at some point, the Dart was going to have a mode-selection button as well. At least on the 2013 analog instrument cluster, there is an unused "ECO" light in the panel. Presumably at some point there was going to be a way to switch between "normal" (or "sport") mode and "eco" mode.

@jsblanch your focusing on 1 word from what im trying to address.. which is "500L"
The point of the conversation is to find an ecu that can be brained to the Dart and avoid its eco mode or have the ability to have "sport/eco" within its capability.

Unless youre willing to pay a lot of money to have a one off ECU built for you... i dont think its possible.

I think your correct. To an extent. Im sure there is a potential way of doing said adjustment, but it will take lots of R&D

O definitely... but paying a company to do that R&D is where the "lot of money" then comes in... and then at that point you could have bought a stock car that was faster and with more power and a better aftermarket from the get go.

The Dart isn't limited even a little bit by its ECU; it's limited by the fact that it was a rather unpopular car and there are very few sources of high quality aftermarket performance parts for it. If the parts and the customer base exists, you can bet that EC would be developing their 300hp 500 Abarth/Turbo tune for the Dart (it requires a turbo upgrade and a lot of mods). That they pretty much refuse to seriously consider it has nothing to do with the Dart's ECU.

If you want a more performance-oriented Dart, however, there are tuning options to make it less of an "economy" car. There's Eurocompulsion and Syked, who make ECU flash tunes, and @Exitus04 can go on more or less forever about how great the Unichip is (note that he has a lot of bolt-on mods to support it, and he has a custom tune that is not commercially available).

Totally agree. Almost traded it for an STI. But the carry over from my current loan is too much to dump into something else. So im keeping it for the remainder of the loan.

Very much agree with what your saying. I do wish they'd help us little guys more.. by little i mean little population of darts.

I blame dodge for the piss poor job they did with it.
