      Always On Wipers Issue

      2013 Dodge Dart SXT

Just replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, then when I started the car up to drive around, the brights flashed twice and the wipers came on in "mist" speed and didn't shut off.

I disassembled the steering column and removed the switch, turned the car on, and the wipers came on again.

Now that I have to drive the car as a daily, I removed the power to the motor until I can figure out what I need to either replace or fix on the BCM to solve this issue. I know that other Dodge models have had this issue before, but, since there is no fuse to pull for the wipers, and they're all permanent inside the BCM, I'm not able to use any of the "fixes" from other models.

My question is: should I get the BCM reflashed, should I get a brand-new BCM, or should I replace the pump relays on the BCM?

My suggestion would be to check out the Alfaobd thread. Even using the free version of the software you can connect to the BCM module and read any error codes (it is limited to 15mins then you need to restart the problem).

I suppose I should've said that it's not throwing any check lights. It's operating as normal with the exception of the wipers. I don't know if an OBD diagnostic would display something like a cold-soldered relay.

Alfaobd is a specialized program designed specifically for our vehicles. It will show you error codes that do not trigger check engine lights. If there is an issue with the BCM it will pick up a code

So, I wasn't able to get AlfaOBD, but I did reconnect the power to the motor and it is strangely working? Like, it randomly decides to work. Sometimes the wipers just turn on by themselves and, other times if I turn on a blinker or one of the interior lights they come on. I'm starting to think that there is a gremlin somewhere in the electrical system.

Possibly a BCM problem. Still under warranty?
