I put together an online petition for FCA to fix all the iPod/Mp3 issues the unit has. Since they are still putting this unit into 2016 Dodge vehicles there might be some hope for them to release an update if enough attention is given. It's worth a try.

I think I signed up, however my issue with Uconnect is not with the Ipod since I don't use one. my issue is that the unit will not play half the music on my micro sd card. it pulls the name of the song but then just skips to the next track. everything on my card is mp3 or wma.

NO INTENT TO DERAIL!

Dont get me wrong, I love this idea... but maybe that petition should say "Petition to FCA to bring back the dart and SRT4"?

Not to be a downer but the Dart stops production at end of October and will be gone. I doubt we will see any updates. The iPod issues have been there since the beginning. I called Uconnect about it in Jan 2013. Our Uconnect system plays songs in alphabetical order only when you select an album on an ipod. Uconnect told me they were aware of the issue but no fix yet- that was 3.5 years ago. I have had zero issues using a sdcard or usb drive with mp3/aac at all, however all my memory cards are formatted in Fat32.

There are 2 updates for our system posted on Uconnects website. Make sure you at least update the system before you complain to FCA. The Dart is toast now and I doubt they are going to spend any time or resources updating our systems.

I've been reading all the posts about the problems with the unit and it's a shame. In my 2016 that I just bought not even 2 weeks ago there is no SD slot, and no CD capability. Had I known about these issues I would not have purchased the car at all. I rely 100% on ipod functionality for music while driving, and now I have little choice in the matter.

There aren't any updates available, and it seems if not enough noise is made there won't ever be.

I know all about hands-free, I live in IL... But i think its a little harsh to say that because your head unit doesnt work 100% with an ipod that you wouldve not bought the car... see how much it would cost to upgrade to the 8.4n... I have that and have 0 issues with my ipod...

I didnt assume... I stated, "IF you download music from the apple store, it comes in MP4 format..." Have you tried an older ipod? Cause just like androids dont work well with MAC computers, maybe the newer systems of the ipods dont work well with this uconnect... and you cant just assume that with every update that apple does with their tech (which is like twice a week) that FCA is going to update their systems to be compatible...

*Deleted as it was a double post.

From what a lot of the videos and people on other forums are saying if you hold the drivier side heat up/down buttons simultaneously, (with the defroster button?) that the engineering menu will come up. Ive honestly never tried this, but maybe (like the ipods) you can get to a setting that will reset the system completely!

Well, since you know this... I would assume that you didnt find a reset option? Maybe try resetting your Ipod, and re-downloading the music back onto it? There's gotta be a way to make it work!

I'll gladly sign if the Petition also specifically states how stupid it is that the uConnect organizes EVERYTHING alphabetically. It needs to work like this:
Artist A-Z,# (or #,A-Z) either way is fine.
>Album (A-Z, or even better, ordered by release date)
>>Song (Track #)

I've stated my displeasure on the surveys that come back to me after purchasing my Dart, but it sounds like no one really reads them or takes these issues into consideration. The uConnect is just flat out horribly programmed, and honestly I'm upset that the HVAC, and Seat Heater controls are tied into it. Such a poor design.

I may be wrong and this may be a broad-brush but, isnt there a law about manufactures supporting their vehicles for 7 years from ending a model?

I believe they are required to supply parts for a certain amount of time, but that doesn't mean they are required to provide software updates. Whatever the case, I'm taking the same view of this as I did with the various SRT announcements: I will believe it when it actually happens and I can get it for myself if I so choose.

So I've had my radio updated for a while, but haven't really tried the USB to iPod cable for a while... I started trying it this week, and yes, many of the issues are much better now. After taking the initial 30 plus minuets to build it's own database, I'm now able to plug my iPod in and access playlists and search functions with in the first few seconds. So that's a plus. I still will say that the system over all is far from perfect, and honestly could still be a lot better, but this is a big step in the right direction.

My next biggest grief is the song fade out. Fade out just isn't a good idea, unless you're a DJ in a club. I'd consider myself to be a mild audiophile, and song fade out just annoys me since some songs have awesome strong finishes, and the fade out just eliminates that.

I'll still also say that I wish the Uconnect didn't build it's own database for iPod connectivity anyway, but at least it's now usable.

It's weird that it does a fade-out for iPods, but not for USB or SD cards. Honestly, with how poor the iPod integration is, I would just use a USB stick. I mean, assuming I had an iPod and the USB port in my Dart worked right (it keeps disconnecting/connecting the stick when I hit bumps). I use the SD card instead, despite the fact that SD cards themselves are apparently garbage and terminally fail after 4-8 months.
