That is exactly what I was thinking as I have done it a few times. It's easy to accidentally hit those steering wheel buttons in any car.
I have had this problem since i got the car 4 months ago. They have changed everything on my car from steering wheel to touchscreen and radio.nothing helps.they are working on a software update that will be out in end of april. Ask them for compensation of your car payment. You have to contact Chrysler resolution.
I have been experiencing this issue as well. The stereo switches between radio / USB port / Aux randomly. The funny thing is there is no Aux that the user can access, no port and no control. When this happens I tried turning the radio off in disgust and wouldn't you know the radio will automatically turn itself back on and continue its random switching. I test software for a living and the only conclusion that I can come up with is that Dodge did not life test there Dart radio's before adding them to the design.
I know this is an old thread but there is a software update for the radio to address these concerns
I have the same issue on my Dart with the standard CD-player radio (nothing too fancy). I have had the issue since purchase and it seemed to happen more in cold weather, right after start, then seemed to happen less once the car was warmed up. My theory was that it was a cold solder joint, but if others are having the same problem, then it could definitely be a software issue. I'll talk to the dealer about it among other things. For those saying it could be the steering wheel buttons, the radio is changing sources (CD / Radio / USB / AUX) , and none of my steering wheel buttons change sources. My steering wheel buttons change presets, seek up/down, and change volume.
My mom finally took her Dart to the dealer to try to fix this. They replaced the radio, but a few days later, it started doing the same thing again (switching from CD to radio for no reason). When she first got the car back, the CD player didn't work at all. They hooked up some kind of device to re-configure the whole system, which I had hoped would update the software or something, but apparently it didn't. I heard all of this second-hand, so I can't give any more details. She wants to take this up with Chrysler.
is waiting for VTEC to kick
I just got the manual version of the sxt a week ago so i have the basic radio as well. I noticed when I first got the car that when I was shifting sometimes the song (USB iPod) would pause and then come back on a second later. It mainly happened when I first got the car, and I noticed sometimes it pauses the entire thing and I cannot get it to resume playing. I would have to switch sources and then go back to USB and it loaded the music right up.Which is not a big deal for me so nothing too much that I am worried about as of now, but thought I would put in some input.

Keep us posted if she gets it back into the dealer.

The radios and handsfree systems will be the death of customer satisfaction at the dealership level.
I was recently moved to a GM store from our Chrysler store and we have very similar radio issues/handfree issues here that we had there.
Phones won't connect, phones won't stream, screens go black, ect, ect, ect.

Exactly why I always get the base radio and change it out with a better quality aftermarket stereo.
