      Throttle Body

I am new to doing after markets on my car. I am planning on doing an air intake and a throttle body but for some reason I can't seem to find the throttle body. Help?

Are you planning to do a tune? IIRC people have said that changing the throttle body is useless without a tune to compensate for it, as the onboard computer will simply adapt and make it irrelevant.

Modern Performance used to sell a ported throttle body and I don't remember it requiring any tune. Maybe they stopped selling it.

And one would acquire this tune through a piggyback, or has there been any legitimate tuning going on?

1.4 has the HPSI/EC tune or Skyes
      2.0 has the Skyes tune
      2.4 has RRM spectrum piggyback

I'm not sure how effective the Spectrum would be for the throttle body. I'm re-breaking in my spectrum after installing the HPSI cold air intake then I'll install the ported throttle body to see if it makes a difference

I believe it was Tork that just had the ported TB, Modern Performances TB is more than a simple port job. They open it up (bore a larger hole) and put a larger butterfly plate in as well, amongst a few other upgrades. You basically end up with a 46mm TB, which is what the old 2.2/2.5 turbos came with stock.

Did anyone take the time to read the Modern Performance info on this? 6hp increase! How exactly do you believe the stock ECU is going to compensate for what it doesn't know exists? Everything will work exactly as before except the TB is now flowing more air, so the ECU will feed a little more fuel and you will gain a little more power

The ECU in the dart is written for fuel economy not power, so yes it will see the added air flow... BUT the ECU is not going to add any fuel to the system as its set to only increase fuel economy and not power. The reason (I would say) that you do see that small increase in power is due to the map being rich from the factory (which all cars are for safety reasons)... By adding the extra air flow, it helps move the AFR from a rich mix to a more stoich mix and give you better combustion. Now the main problem with this whols situation is that MANY people with the 1.4T are running tunes and tuners on their car... The minute you add that tune it alters the AFR anyways and if the tune is not written for the ported TB then you might actually be leaning out your mixture too much and cause more harm than good. I know from my talks and hanging out with @yodamusic that when he installed the ported TB on his car without his tune... he told me there really was no difference in power that he noticed. It wasnt until he put his unichip back on and ran a tune that had been written for full bolt-ons that he felt the difference.
