Need help diagnosing power loss and advice on next steps for repairs!

I'm stuck trying to figure this out and reaching out to you wonderful people for some help! I know there are plenty of threads on similar issues but cut me a break, if I found an answer then I wouldn't post a new one.

My 2013 aero recently hit about 42,800 miles and I think I'm noticing some hesitation and power loss. Swapped out the spark plugs about 1k miles ago (I know I know) and felt that this rare "hiccuping" disappeared. Chalked it up to misfire caused by the worn plugs and called it a day.

A few days ago I thought i felt it come back idk I might be imagining the slight "jerk" and as far as the power loss well that could actually be happening. Here's the thing though... I couldn't drive for a few months and honestly can't remember how the acceleration felt. I definitely feel like something is off!

Where do I start with this??? Looking into changing the coil packs but I want your advice because everything I've read from you all is great until the thread details or stops completely... Thanks in advance!

Oh yeah and no CEL so far so I don't know where to start. I'm gonna see if I can someone to pull codes. I don't trust dealerships really and don't have cash to be throwing around but if it's gotta be fixed well ya know.

I think that is my next step once I can order them. I'm skeptical that will fix the power loss

Make sure you replace ALL FOUR at the same time or you'll continue to have "jerky" and "hesitating" performance. Many of the turbo folks will tell you, just replacing one, or one at a time will do nothing but prolong the issues and drive one insane.

Hey @LockJah where do you live? sometimes extreme cold weather plays a big role in hesitation and jerkiness! At 42k you should definitely have replaced you coilpacks! I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago and it completely fixed the jerky feeling and hesitation that I was getting throughout the rpm band. I would recommend the one that I bought, but if you are in a bind for money the OEM ones will do just fine! Also, did you happen to gap the spark plugs correctly? Sometimes little things like that can make a huge difference when it comes to performance!

PS. Do us a HUGE favor and finish adding your info to your avatar profile so everyone knows what model, engine and trans you have! It'll help us help you diagnose problems and not have a bunch of people ask... "well what model, engine and trans do you have?" down the road!

Do all the engines require coil packs to be changed by then, or just the 1.4L's?

Hey Thanks for your reply. That's what I keep reading so that seems to be the way to go. I am concerned about the loss of power though. Once the coil packs are changed will this go back to normal?

I'm in Colorado. We did just have a few bitter cold days and nights recently. 0-20 degree range. I was just looking at the OEM coil packs but I also saw the BOSCH ones somewhere on here when I was lurking. Are those the ones you replaced with? My biggest fear is something happened with the turbo! Desperately hope its not the solenoid I keep reading about! I get kinda crazy when I feel something is wrong with my car...

Thanks ill work on filling that out soon!

Ok, i think that is the correct gapping for the OEM plugs when running no tune! But yes i have the Bosch coilpacks from the alfa romeo 4C! they are great!!! But here is how you check if the solenoid is bad...

Get up to about 45MPH then shift to 5th and do a WOT pull, if the solenoid is bad you will get a CEL when you ht around 4-4.5k RPMs.
